Class 1M state champion Chaminade-Madonna holds on to the top spot in our final 2023 Florida high school football rankings for Classes 1 and 2. In addition to the Lions, who have remained No. 1 throughout the season, the other state champs are 2S’s Cocoa (No. 2), 2M’s Berkeley Prep (No. 3), 1R’s Hawthorne (No. 6), and 1S’s Cardinal Mooney (No. 17).

The final update of our 2023 Florida high school football rankings for Classes 1-2 and SSAA has two teams entering the Top 25 in the Walton Braves and Calvary Christian Warriors. Sitting at No. 24, the Braves are undefeated at 10-0 entering the playoffs in Class 2S, while Calvary Christian-Clearwater (8-2) returns to the rankings at No. 25 ahead of the 2M playoffs.

Sitting undefeated at 7-0 overall, the Red Devils have been one of the most impressive teams in Class 1R so far this season, outscoring opponents a combined 304-91.

Chaminade-Madonna remains in the top spot after its 31-28 win over Miami Central, while one new team, Class 1M’s True North Classical Academy, debuts at No. 20. The Titans (5-0) are coming off a big 21-8 win over previously 14th-ranked First Baptist Academy.

Our latest 2023 Florida high school football rankings for Classes 1-2 and SSAA teams includes two new teams in the Nos. 24-25 spots: Benjamin and Edison. Benjamin is coming off a Week 1 blowout defeat of John Carroll Catholic, 49-6, while Edison opened its season with a 17-6 victory over Hialeah. Norland also picked up one of the state’s most notable Week 1 results; the Vikings defeated Lakeland by a final score of 48-34.

Preseason Top-25 – Updated 8/20/2023

These 2023 rankings include Florida high school football teams in Classes 1 and 2, as well as the SSAA. The first installment is our preseason Top 25; it will be updated weekly throughout the season.

Holding the top spot, albeit by a slim margin, is defending Class 1M state champion Chaminade-Madonna, which did not lose to an in-state team a year ago. Two other 2022 state champions also are listed within the Top 10 of our 2023 Florida high school football preseason Top-25 rankings: 2M’s Miami Central (No. 2) and 2S’s Cocoa (No. 6), while 1S’s First Baptist sits at No. 14 and 1R’s Hawthorne begins the season ranked 19th.
