The final update of our 2023 Alabama high school football rankings for Classes 1A-3A sees a new team atop the list, Class 2A’s Fyffe. Alongside the Red Devils, the other state champions who finish the year ranked in the Top-25 are as follows: 1A’s Leroy (No. 2), 3A’s Mobile Christian (No. 3), AISA 3A’s Lee-Scott (No. 11), AISA 2A’s Chambers (No. 20), and AISA 1A’s Lowndes (No. 18).

The latest update of our 2023 Alabama high school football Classes 1A-3A rankings reveals a new No. 1 team, Reeltown, which rises climbs spots from No. 3. Madison Academy (up four) and Mobile Christian (up six) also make big moves, as does Coosa Christian, which jumps eight spots to No. 15.

All three AISA champions – Lee-Scott, Chambers, and Lowndes – are in the Top-25, with Chambers at No. 21 after previously being unranked. In addition to the Rebels, two other teams enter the rankings this week: Tuscaloosa Academy at No. 23 and Hackleburg at No. 25.

Similar to our Classes 4A-7A rankings, this week’s update of the 2023 Alabama high school football 1A-3A Top-25 sees a minimal amount of movement, with only one real takeaway entering the first round of the playoffs. That takeaway is Class 3A’s Sylvania dropping two spots to No. 10 as a result of its 21-10 loss to No. 5 Fyffe last week.

The second is Straughn at No. 25; the Tigers sit undefeated at 5-0 in Class 3A.

The lone takeaway was the rise of Glenwood three spots to No. 19 after the Gators picked up a big 42-31 win over Lee-Scott on Friday night. The Warriors fell two spots to No. 20 as a result.

The second of those new teams, Class 3A’s Houston Academy, comes in at No. 25; the Raiders sit undefeated at 2-0 after victories over Wicksburg and Daleville.

As we enter Week 2 of the 2023 Alabama high school football season, the latest update to our Classes 1A-3A and AISA Top-25 rankings sees only one new team enter the mix: the Madison Academy Mustangs. The Mustangs opened the season with a big road win last Friday night, routing Deshler by a final score of 42-6. Among the other Week 1 takeaways, Pickens County jumps a spot to No. 12 after its 8-6 win over Aliceville, and Tuscaloosa Academy and Lee-Scott made the biggest upward moves as a result of last week’s contests.

The 2023 Alabama high school football season has arrived, meaning it’s time for our preseason Top-25 rankings for Classes 1A, 2A, and 3A, as well as the AISA. The rankings will be updated weekly throughout the season.

Headlining our 2023 Alabama high school preseason Top-25 is defending Class 3A state champion Saint James at No. 1, with 2A title winner Fyffe following close behind the Trojans at No. 2. Defending Class 1A state champion Leroy begins the season at No. 9, and 2022 AISA 3A champion Lee-Scott is ranked 21st.
