Top 25 Florida High School Girls Basketball Teams: Classes 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A and Independent

IMG Academy sits atop our Top 25 rankings as we officially close the book on the 2023-24 Florida high school girls basketball season. The Lady Ascenders finished the season at 23-3 overall with none of their losses coming against an in-state team. 

All seven FHSAA state champions also finished the 2023-24 season ranked, with each team and rank as follows: Class 7A’s Dr. Phillips at No. 4, Class 6A’s St. Thomas Aquinas at No. 10, Class 5A’s American Heritage at No. 8, Class 4A’s Lake Highland Prep at No. 2, Class 3A’s Miami Country Day at No. 6, Class 2A’s Evangelical Christian at No. 24, and Class 1A’s Hawthorne at No. 25.

With a few state champions having been crowned late last week, let’s update our Florida high school girls basketball Top 25 rankings as we enter the final stretch of the 2023-24 season. 

This week four state champions sit in the Top 25, the highest-ranked of which is Class 4A’s Lake Highland Prep at No. 2. The other three state champions are Class 3A’s Miami Country Day at No. 10, as well as two teams debuting in the Top 25 for the first time this season in Class 2A’s Evangelical Christian at No. 24 and Class 1A’s Hawthorne at No. 25.

The remaining three state champions will officially be crowned later this week.

As we enter the regional semifinal round of the 2023-24 Florida high school girls basketball playoffs, no new teams enter our Top 25 rankings in this latest update. However, there were certainly a few other takeaways, headlined by IMG Academy taking over the No. 1 ranking as a result of a big 64-62 win over Montverde Academy. 

In addition to the Ascenders, several other teams also moved up a spot, while others such as DME Academy, Bishop Kenny, and Riverview Sarasota each dropped.

This update of our 2023-24 Florida high school girls basketball rankings sees three teams enter the Top 25 as we head into the playoffs with Cardinal Mooney, Niceville, and Somerset Academy-Canyons sitting in the No. 23-25 spots, respectively. 

Cardinal Mooney, the highest-ranked of those three, owns a resume filled with impressive victories so far this season over ranked teams such as Seffner Christian, Riverview Sarasota, American Heritage, and Palm Bay.

Bloomingdale and Dr. Phillips made the biggest upward moves of the week, jumping eight spots each.
