It was another week of outstanding quarterback performances in Week 2 of the 2022 Georgia high school football season. Here are some highlights from around the state:
Bryce Bowens, QB, Carver-Atlanta
Bowens accounted for 6 TDs to lead the Panthers to a 44-24 win over Riverdale. He rushed for 3 TDs of 1 yard, 3 yards, and a 16-yard scamper to the endzone. The Carver-Atlanta senior also threw 3 TD passes of 44 yards, 23 yards and 46 yards.
Prentiss Noland, QB, Langston Hughes
Prentiss “Air” Noland finished the night with 14-22 passing for 339 yards passing and 4 TDs to lead the Panthers to a 47-21 win over the McEachern Indians. The TD passes were 75, 58, 51 and 28 yards. He also rushed for 29 yards. Noland is one of the most highly recruited QBs in the state.
AJ Hill, QB, Houston County
Hill, a sophomore, continues to shine for the Bears, leading them to a 2-0 start by completing 34 of 50 passes for 414 yards and 4 TD passes in their shootout 57-56 win over Perry Friday night.
Sam Brown, QB, Thomas County Central
Brown led the Yellow Jackets to a win over crosstown rival Thomasville with his arm and legs. The senior was 21-30 passing the football while rushing 10 times for 77 yards and 2 TDs.
RJ Johnson, QB, Westlake
Standout QB Johnson came up big in the Lions’ surprisingly easy win over Crisp County 47-7. The Toledo commit showed his skill of efficiency by completing 15 of 20 passes for 254 yards and 3 TDs in the win over the Cougars.
The Westlake defense also deserves recognition as one of our top performers in Week 2 of the 2022 Georgia high school football season. They held Crisp County to minus-28 yards of total offense in the resounding victory.
