Five New Teams Debut in Latest Top-25

The start of a new year also marks the latest update of our Alabama high school girls basketball Top 25 rankings for Classes 4A-7A. It brings five new teams into the mix – Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, Jasper, Eufaula, Huffman, and McGill-Toolen. A few others made notable moves, such as Good Hope rising three spots to No. 6 overall, and a pair of Class 4A programs, Geneva and Jackson, each climbing six spots to Nos. 18 and 19, respectively.

The latest update of our Alabama high school girls basketball Class 4A-7A Top-25 rankings features five new teams in the mix this week: Sardis, UMS-Wright, Carver-Montgomery, Geneva, and Jackson. The Top-3 – Hazel Green, Hoover, and Vestavia Hills – remains unchanged, while Good Hope and T.R. Miller see the biggest rises of the week.

Our Alabama high school girls basketball rankings for Classes 4A-7A receives its first update of the 2022-23 season. The biggest riser in this week’s update was Class 4A’s Good Hope, which climbed four spots after a 5-0 start to the season. 5A’s Guntersville also jumped multiple spots into the Top 10 after a strong start. One new team, Mountain Brook, debuted at No. 20; the 6A Spartans are another team off to a great start.

Preseason Rankings
As we enter the 2022-23 Alabama high school girls basketball season, defending Class 6A state champion Hazel Green opens as the No. 1 team in our Classes 4A-7A Top 25 rankings. Defending Class 7A state champion Hoover is directly behind the Trojans at No. 2, while a few other defending state champions are also ranked within the Top 15 – 4A’s Deshler at No. 4, 4A’s Prattville Christian (reclassified from Class 3A) at No. 10, and 5A’s Guntersville at No. 13.
Class 7A runner up Vestavia Hills begins the 2022-23 season ranked in the No. 3 spot, while two other state runners-up from a year ago are also ranked – 6A’s Oxford at No. 8 and 6A’s Lee-Huntsville, who reclassified from 5A, at No. 20.
