Brian Braddock’s first year as head coach of St. Augustine was a good one. The new coach replaced Joey Wiles, who coached for 20 years at St. Augustine. Wiles had 20 consecutive playoff appearances and a state championship during his time with the Yellow Jackets.
The team is now handed over to Braddock, who played for St. Augustine and was an assistant coach there as well. In his first season as head coach of the Yellow Jackets he picked up right where Wiles left it, finishing 11-2 and making it to the 6A Regional 1 Final. “Last year was very successful,” said Braddock.
Some changes that will be coming this season with the play calls due to offensive coordinator Sean McIntyre, who is leaving to take the Head Coaching position at Creekside. The offensive play calls will now take over by Braddock this season.
Braddock is excited for this upcoming season and especially their opening game versus Baker County, who beat them last year. “It’s a great opportunity to measure ourselves against one of the best teams in North Florida,” said Braddock.
