Wetumpka High School Girls Basketball Player Zariah Fannin Named ITG Next Alabama Female Athlete of the Month for December 2022
Receiving 87.79% of the possible votes, Wetumpka girls basketball player Zariah Fannin has been voted the ITG Next Alabama Female Athlete of the Month for December 2022 as a result of her play during November.
Currently leading the Indians in scoring, while also ranking among the state’s leaders, Fannin’s 2022-23 senior season is certainly off to a noteworthy start.
Across 14 games, Fannin is currently averaging 19.6 PPG for the Indians, as well as 4.4 RPG and 2.1 SPG, both of which also lead Wetumpka. Fannin, a guard, is also shooting a combined 35% from the field and 71% from the free throw line, with the senior’s on-court success during November as a big reason for her strong start to the year.
Across nine games during November, Fannin averaged totals of 18.9 PPG and 6.8 RPG for the Indians, along with a notable 3.2 SPG on defense. Headlining this stretch for Fannin was a three-game span against Calhoun, Prattville, and Dothan midway through the month in which the senior averaged 29.3 PPG, as well as a season-high 34-point performance on Nov. 21 in a 54-28 win over Dothan.
Fannin also posted two double-doubles during November, both of which came in a loss. The first came on Nov. 18 in a 71-56 loss to Prattville where the senior had 28 points and 10 rebounds, with the second coming in a 50-41 defeat against Carroll on Nov. 22, posting a stat line of 18 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals.
Based on the way that Fannin has played so far, the senior is likely not done adding impressive stat lines to her 2022-23 season resume.
Congratulations to Wetumpka’s Zariah Fannin, the ITG Next Alabama Female Athlete of the Month for December 2022.
