Welcome Back High School Basketball
As the 2020-21 high school basketball season will begin in the coming weeks, excitement for the sport and its players continues to grow. Basketball has always been near the top of the list of America’s favorite sports to watch. High school basketball provides a platform to help spring into stardom the sport’s next generation of players. Whether it is the noisy crowds, the maximum effort spent of players looking to get noticed by the next level, or the intense rivalry games, there is nothing like high school basketball.
Basketball as a game has much to offer us. The competitiveness, relationships, and passion for the game that you build from a young age is special. There is nothing that compares to waiting in the locker room before a game, hearing the packed gymnasium through the walls, just waiting to fire the crowd up. You meet as a team, and then it’s go time. Sprinting through the tunnel onto the court for warm-ups, hearing the music and cheers, you can only dream about giving it all you have to win that game. Whether you are playing or in the stands cheering, nobody can deny that the atmosphere of a big-time high school basketball game is special.
High school basketball is perfect for competitors, but has also a rich history of building stars for the next level. Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Zion Williamson, and the list goes on, are superstars who have gone on to heights rarely seen before and who all had the same beginnings. These players tore up the high school game and became some of the best, most talked about players in the world because of it.
High school basketball should once again be exciting to follow and watch this year as it is every year with one theme remaining the same: The stars of tomorrow will shine today. Teams such as Montverde Academy, Sierra Canyon, and Dematha should be must-watch once again, while a few new highly ranked players will take the main stage. Highly ranked seniors such as Chet Holmgren, Patrick Baldwin Jr., Paolo Banchero, and others will be must-watch. The spotlight will only continue to get brighter on the development of juniors and sophomores such as Emoni Bates, Jalen Duren, and Mikey Williams. Whether you enjoy the big-time names and teams, or enjoy small-town, hard-fought, high-effort games, high school basketball has it all.
So here we are on the verge of the greatness that is the high school basketball season. Once again, the electric atmospheres of gymnasiums on weekday nights will be back in our lives. Sit down, buckle up, and enjoy watching these emerging stars. Welcome back high school basketball.
