Week 4 Georgia High School Football Viewing Guide
In the blink of an eye, three weeks of the 2021 high school football season have finished. Instead of lamenting that a quarter of the regular season is now over, let’s look ahead to the fourth week of action! Here are some games to keep an eye out for in Week 4 of Georgia high school football.
Creekside @ Cartersville (9/10)
Creekside is coming off their biggest win in the last half decade, as they beat third-ranked Westlake at home last week.
The Seminoles defense, especially the secondary, has been lockdown this year, and it has shown in their wins against the Lions and Grayson two weeks ago.
Cartersville, during Creekside’s bye week, defeated a strong West Forsyth team 38-31, so you can expect them to be ready for this home matchup against one of the hottest teams in the state.
Colquitt County @ Valdosta (9/10)
The history between these two South Georgia programs has been well-documented. Aside from the rivalry, this game should be interesting because of matchups.
Colquitt County has a young offense but an experienced defense. RB Charlie Pace rushed for 313 yards in his first two games but will face a tough test against a Valdosta Wildcat front seven led by Jacquez McGowan, Eric Brantley, and Jaylin Berrian.
Whoever wins up front could end up deciding the fate of this game.
Milton @ St. Joseph’s Prep (PA) (9/11)
Milton will leave the state to play once again like they did against JSerra Catholic (CA) in 2019. This will truly test Milton’s mental strength, as they must travel to face a top-15 team in the nation in St. Joseph’s Prep.
The Eagles will hope that the highest-ranked player in the 2023 class, LT Overton, will be available to play after he suffered a preseason injury. Besides him, they will lean on Jordan McDonald in the rushing game and WR Debron Gatling, who caught three TDs last week against Life Christian Academy (VA).
Lowndes @ Lee County (9/10)
These teams faced off last year as a battle of second-ranked programs within their classification. Lowndes dominated 38-13. This year may be different, however.
The Trojans are coming off back-to-back 60+ point wins, and Lowndes has yet to win a game by more than two scores. The Vikings knocked off Lake Gibson (FL) in a shootout last week, leaving more questions than answers regarding their defense.
The same questions were present this past offseason for Lee County’s offense after they lost Chauncey Magwood and JuJu McDowell, but they seem to have figured things out after scoring 124 points in the last two weeks.
With the talent featured in this matchup as well, the Vikings and Trojans could very well give us one of the games of the year.
