Updated Alabama High School Girls Basketball 7A-4A Top 25 – 3.6.22

With the conclusion of the 2021-22 Alabama High School Girls Basketball season, our 7A-4A Top 25 receives the final update of the year.

Class 6A state champion Hazel Green ends the season with the No. 1 ranking, while 7A state champion Hoover is not far behind at No. 2. Class 4A state champion Deshler also finishes the year within the top 5, while 5A state champion Guntersville sees a significant jump, all the way up to No. 7. A few new teams also entered the top 25 in the final update such as St. James and New Hope, each of which made deep runs in the playoffs.

The 2021-22 Alabama High School Girls Basketball season has now officially come to an end with our 3A-1A Top 25 rankings receiving the final update of the season.

Class 3A state champion Prattville Christian finishes the year with the No. 1 ranking, while other state champions in Pisgah and Glenwood also round out the top 3. Class 1A state champion Marion County also sees a significant rise up to No. 7 as well as AISA 2A-1A state champions Edgewood and Abbeville Christian also finishing the season ranked in the top 25. 2A runner-up St. Luke’s Episcopal sees the biggest rise of the week at No. 9. 

 

Updated Alabama High School Girls Basketball 7A-4A Top 25 – 2.20.22

It’s the Elite Eight in Alabama High School Girls Basketball! Entering an important week in the playoffs for multiple teams across the state, here are our updated 7A-4A Top 25 rankings. 

The top 10 does not see much change this week aside from small rises from Hewitt-Trussville, Jackson, and Bob Jones, with the Huskies picking up a notable regional semifinal win over Sparkman. Teams such as Guntersville took big jumps this week, while three new teams entered the top 25, headlined by Class 7A’s Theodore at No. 20 as the Bobcats picked up arguably the biggest win of the last two weeks when they topped Fairhope 54-45.

Updated Alabama High School Girls Basketball 3A-1A Top 25 – 2.20.22

State Champions have officially been crowned in the AISA, while the AHSSA enters the Elite Eight. Here is a look at the Alabama High School Girls Basketball 3A-1A Top 25 entering the week.

AISA 3A state champion Glenwood rises up to No. 4 in this week’s update, while 2A champion Edgewood and 1A champion Abbeville Christian also enter the top 25 this week. In addition to those two, four other teams also entered the top 25 this week, headlined by Class 2A’s Sulligent who entered at No. 13 after having beaten two ranked teams in the regional quarterfinal and semifinal round.

As the playoffs are set to begin this week for the 2021-22 Alabama High School Girls Basketball season, the Class 7A-4A Top 25 gets its final update before postseason play. 

Hazel Green is fully cemented as the state’s top team entering the playoffs, while a pair of Class 4A teams in Good Hope and Jackson both see rises within the top 10. Other notables include Class 6A’s Chelsea and Mortimer Jordan as the biggest risers of the week, and three new teams entering the Top 25, headlined by Class 6A’s Mountain Brook at No. 22 with Class 5A’s Lee-Huntsville and Guntersville not far behind.

The 2021-22 Alabama High School Girls Basketball playoffs have officially arrived. Before the postseason officially tips off, let’s take a look at this weeks updated Class 3A-1A Top 25.

The top 10 sees only one change as Class 2A’s Winston County continues to rise all the way up to No. 7, and while Prattville Christian remains in the No. 1 spot, the race for No. 2 is very close between two-to-three different teams. Teams such as Johnson and Marion were also among the biggest risers of the week, while Class 3A’s Ohatchee is the lone team to enter the rankings this week at No. 25.

Updated Top 25 Girls Basketball Rankings

With the latest Alabama High School Girls Basketball 7A-4A Top 25 update this week, one thing is clear – the Top 5 is crowded. 

While Hazel Green holds onto the No. 1 overall ranking, the gap is very small between the Trojans and Class 7A powers Hoover and Vestavia Hills, while spots 4-7 feature some of the biggest risers this week, headlined by Davidson at No. 4. Four new teams also entered the Top 25 this week headlined by Sparkman entering the Top 10 at No. 8, while Class 6A puts three other teams in the Top 25 in Mortimer Jordan, Oxford, and Hartselle.

While Prattville Christian remains cemented as the No. 1 team with the playoffs drawing near, this week’s Alabama High School Girls Basketball 3A-1A Top 25 update saw notable movement as well, with multiple teams entering the Top 25. 

A total of 10 teams entered the Top 25 this week, with the highest of that group being Winston County, Sand Rock, and Ragland at No. 11-13. In addition to this, Class 3A’s Lauderdale County rose up to No. 2 with Spring Garden also taking a noticeable leap into the Top 5, with Pisgah and Glenwood each dropping a spot as well.
