Top Georgia Quarterbacks Through Week 3

Top Georgia Quarterbacks Through Week 3

Georgia continues to be the quarterback capital of the USA. Through three weeks of games, there’s been some impressive performances from the young signal callers in the Peach State. With the college offers continuing to roll in from some of these top players, here have been the most impressive players through three games.

5. Brooks Pangle, Greenbrier

Perhaps a surprise with some of the talented quarterbacks in the state, but when you complete 68% of your passes and throw for six touchdowns and no interceptions, you’re doing something right. Pangle, a junior, has been efficient and decisive with the ball and has the Wolfpack sitting at the top of their region early on in the season.

The offense is scoring 27.5 points per game so far, and a lot of it has to do with having a smart quarterback under center. If he continues to play at this level for Greenbrier, you can expect more and more scholarship offers to role in for the young passer.

4. Thomas Castellanos, Ware County

Castellanos through two games has been efficient and deadly for the Gators’ offensive attack. A true dual-threat quarterback in every sense of the word, he keeps defenses on their toes with the threat of scrambling for a big play on every single down.

The biggest thing for him and the Gators so far has been zero turnovers from him, which has led the offense to looking like one of the best in 5A. So far, Castellanos has led the way with 677 total yards and eight touchdowns, as Ware County has averaged 37 points per game. If he continues to take care of the football and make big plays, the Gators could be state bound.

3. Dylan Lonergan, Brookwood

The sophomore quarterback has been picking defenses apart this season to the tune of a 67% completion percentage. Currently, Lonergan has 835 total yards, 707 of which are through the air, to go with eight total touchdowns. Most importantly, Brookwood is 2-0 thanks to Lonergan’s heroics.

Lonergan has a big arm and even as a sophomore has been noticed by some of the top schools in the country. He has offers from South Carolina, Auburn, and his father’s alma mater Penn State. Brookwood had a lot of expectations with some of the players they brought into the fold this season, and if Lonergan is throwing the ball like this, a deep playoff run isn’t out of the question.

2. Gunner Stockton, Rabun County

No surprise with the top two, as Stockton’s 10 touchdowns is currently second in the state through three games. He hasn’t thrown for a ton of yards early on, but in their two wins he was incredibly efficient while also getting the job done on the ground.

In total, he has 756 total yards and will look to improve those numbers after a frustrating performance in Rabun County’s first loss to Jefferson last week. I expect him to improve and get even better as the season progresses, as Stockton continues to prove himself as one of the best passers in the history of the state of Georgia. South Carolina has to be pleased with his ability and what they’ll be getting in two years.

1. Brock Vandagriff, Prince Avenue Christian

The most sought after and accomplished quarterback in the country looks the part again as the best player in the state. Through three games, he has the Wolverines at 2-1, has 906 total yards, and has a state-leading 14 total touchdowns. Just another day at the office for the talented quarterback, who will be heading to Athens next season.

Vandagriff is finally healthy this season after battling injuries his junior year, and he is once again proving that he is the guy that can lead Prince Avenue Christian to a state championship. With his ability to spread the ball around the field, he can pick any defense apart.
