Entering Week 11 – the final one of the regular season – here are some of the top matchups that will be played in Alabama high school football this Thursday and Friday night, along with who we think will win each.
Central-Phenix City vs. Prattville
Coming off a bye week, Central-Phenix City will host Prattville on Friday night for a Class 7A-Region 2 game that will be important for both teams. The Red Devils have owned this series in recent years, and they can win the region with a victory. Prattville, meanwhile, is simply looking to secure a playoff spot.
Prediction: Central-Phenix City 30, Prattville 10
Glenwood vs. Chambers
Speaking of games in the Phenix City area, one of the AISA’s top matchups this Friday night will take place not far up the road as Glenwood will host Chambers in a tune-up test before the playoffs begin for both teams. The Gators, one of the top teams in AISA 3A, have won four straight, while the Rebels, who are among the best in AISA 2A, have won seven in a row.
Prediction: Glenwood 30, Chambers 24
Mars Hill Bible vs. Linden
While the Glenwood/Chambers matchup is certainly a good one, there actually might not be a game this Friday night more intriguing among small schools than Mars Hill Bible hosting Linden. A game that pits two of the top teams from Classes 3A and 1A, both the Panthers and Patriots are ranked within the Top 15 of our 3A-1A Top 25 rankings, with Linden in particular entering this contest undefeated at 8-0.
Prediction: Mars Hill Bible 28, Linden 14
Gardendale vs. Hueytown
Coming off a big road win over Mountain Brook, Gardendale returns home for one of the top Week 11 matchups in Alabama high school football Class 6A as the Rockets host a red-hot Hueytown team. The Golden Gophers come into the game having won five consecutive games and are averaging 55 points per game during that span.
Prediction: Gardendale 28, Hueytown 24
Leeds vs. Center Point
One of the remaining unbeaten teams in Class 5A, Leeds can achieve an undefeated regular season in this home matchup with 6A’s Center Point. The Eagles come into this contest winners of four straight and boast an impressive ground game featuring the duo of Troy Bruce Jr. and quarterback Jabari Collier.
Prediction: Leeds 28, Center Point 21
