If there’s one thing that will be showcased over the next two weeks in the Florida high school football state championships, it’s the level of talent on the field. Here are the top eight players who will appear in the 2022 FHSAA football finals.

8. RB Mark Fletcher – American Heritage

While there are multiple names who could lead off this list of top players in the Florida high school football finals, the pick goes to one of the state’s most productive running backs, Mark Fletcher. The four-star senior has rushed for 1,824 yards and 22 touchdowns on 206 attempts this season.

7. WR Joshisa Trader – Chaminade-Madonna

One of the top wide receivers in the 2024 class, Trader is one of several names to know on the electric Chaminade-Madonna offense. The five-star receiver has caught 43 passes through 12 games for 692 yards and 6 touchdowns.

6. S King Mack – St. Thomas Aquinas

One of the state’s top safeties, the four-star Penn State commit likely is the biggest name in a loaded St. Thomas Aquinas secondary. In 11 games, Mack has compiled 43 tackles for the undefeated Raiders.

5. WR Jeremiah Smith – Chaminade-Madonna

The highest-ranked junior on this list of top players in the Florida high school football finals, Smith is perhaps the biggest name on a talented Chaminade-Madonna offense. The five-star wide receiver leads the Lions offense in receiving through 12 games with 51 receptions for 960 yards and 18 touchdowns.

4. EDGE Damon Wilson – Venice

A five-star edge rusher, Wilson will undoubtedly be one of the biggest names on the field in the Class 4S state title showdown between Venice and Lakeland. In 11 games for the Indians this season, Wilson has compiled 76 tackles and 6 sacks.

3. DL Rueben Bain – Miami Central

One of the nation’s top uncommitted defensive linemen, the four-star is the biggest name on a Miami Central defense that’s allowing only 13.4 PPG this season. In nine games, Bain has amassed 49 tackles, 34 TFL, and 26 sacks for the Rockets.

2. WR Brandon Inniss – American Heritage

The Class 2M state title game between Miami Central and American Heritage will have talent all over the field, with arguably no name bigger than that of Inniss. The five-star Ohio State wide receiver commit has caught 66 passes for 1,244 yards and 14 TDs in 14 games.

1. CB Cormani McClain – Lakeland

The No. 1 2023 prospect in Florida high school football, McClain is also No. 1 among the top players who will take the field in the 2022 FHSAA state championship games. The five-star Miami cornerback commit is the biggest name on an undefeated Lakeland team that is allowing only 7.5 PPG.
