As the Florida high school basketball season enters its final week, only three classifications are still left playing, with Classes 5A, 6A, and 7A all down to their Final Four games. Ahead of this week’s action, let’s take a look at the games remaining to be played in the 2023-2024 season and rank the top five Florida high school basketball Final Four matchups 2023-24 FHSAA Class 5A-7A Final Four matchups.
5. Bloomingdale vs. Ponte Vedra
We begin on March 7 with a Class 6A girls matchup that pits Bloomingdale against Ponte Vedra in the 1/4 showdown. The Lady Bulls are chasing a perfect season sitting at an undefeated 29-0, but will certainly be challenged by a Ponte Vedra squad that is 22-8 on the year and coming off an impressive regional final victory over Niceville.
4. Pembroke Pines Charter vs. Ponte Vedra
The headline matchup on March 7 comes on the boys side of Class 6A, as the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars face the Ponte Vedra Sharks in the 2/3 showdown. Ponte Vedra, 23-7, is looking to get back to the 6A title game after finishing as the state runner-up a year ago, but will have to go through a Jaguars team that is 23-4 and only a few years removed from winning a title themselves.
3. Colonial vs. Doral Academy
The 1/4 matchup in Class 7A sees the Colonial Lady Grenadiers face the Doral Academy Lady Firebirds on March 8 in girls action. Colonial, who sits at 26-3 overall, has lost to only a pair of in-state teams this season, while Doral Academy sits at 23-7 overall and will certainly provide a challenge for the Lady Grenadiers.
2. Dr. Phillips vs. Winter Haven
Dr. Phillips is set to face off against Winter Haven on March 8 in the 2/3 matchup of the Class 7A girls playoffs. The Lady Panthers are the two-time defending Class 7A state champions and will face what is likely their toughest test of the playoffs so far in a Winter Haven team that is 23-5 overall for the year.
1. Winter Haven vs. Oak Ridge
Likely the biggest Final Four matchup to come later this week takes place on March 8 in the 2/3 matchup of the Class 7A boys playoffs as Winter Haven faces off against Oak Ridge. Winter Haven sits at 27-1 on the season and is led by talented scorer Isaac Celiscar. They have yet to lose to an in-state team this season, but will certainly be challenged by a 26-3 Oak Ridge team led by one of the state’s top juniors in five-star small forward Jamier Jones.
