Top 10 Florida High School Wide Receivers Entering 2023 Season

As we continue our preseason series of the state’s top players at each position, let’s remain on the offensive side of the ball and rank the top 10 wide receivers entering the 2023 Florida high school football season. (Rankings according to 247Sports Composite

 

10. Jasen Lopez (True North Classical Academy)

We begin our list of the top wide receivers entering the 2023 Florida high school football season here at No. 10 with Jasen Lopez, who is the lone sophomore to make the top 10. Lopez, who attends True North Classical Academy, is coming off a 2022 campaign in which he was one of the state’s most productive wideouts, amassing 70 receptions for 1,275 yards and 13 touchdowns.

9. Dallas Wilson (Tampa Bay Tech)

The first of two juniors to make this list comes at No. 9 in Dallas Wilson, who is a prominent name that returns for a Tampa Bay Tech program that reached the Class 3M regional semifinals a year ago. Wilson, a four-star Oregon commit, had 40 receptions for 874 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. 

 

8. James Randle (Homestead)

A prominent offseason transfer, James Randle sits at No. 8 after transferring from Class 3S runner-up Mainland to 3M runner-up Homestead. Randle, a four-star prospect in the 2024 class, amassed 60 receptions for 1,105 yards and 12 touchdowns a year ago with the Buccaneers.

 

7. Jerrae Hawkins (IMG Academy)

One of two IMG Academy newcomers to make this list is Jerrae Hawkins, who transfers to the Florida power from Wheeling Park High School in West Virginia. The four-star Florida commit is coming off a big junior season in which he had 67 receptions for 1,173 yards and 14 touchdowns. 

 

6. Jaime Ffrench (Mandarin)

The highest-ranked junior on this list at No. 6 is Jaime Ffrench, who enters the season as arguably the biggest name on a talented Mandarin squad. Ffrench, a five-star prospect, had 44 receptions a year ago for 671 yards and five touchdowns. 

 

5. Chance Robinson (St. Thomas Aquinas)

Likely the biggest name from a talented St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver group, we begin the top five at No. 5 with Chance Robinson. The four-star Miami commit enters his senior year coming off a 2022 campaign in which he had 29 receptions for 540 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Raiders, who went undefeated at 14-0 to win the Class 3M state title. 

 

4. NiTareon Tuggle (IMG Academy)

One of the more notable offseason additions for IMG Academy, NiTareon Tuggle sits at No. 4 as he joins the Ascenders from NorthWood High School in Indiana. The four-star Georgia commit enters his senior season coming off a 2022 campaign in which he had 40 receptions for 792 yards and 15 touchdowns, while also rushing for 185 yards and two scores on 17 attempts. 

 

3. TJ Moore (Tampa Catholic)

Claiming the No. 3 spot is TJ Moore, who is arguably the top name returning for a Tampa Catholic program that finished last season at 9-2 to make a Class 2M regional semifinal appearance. The four-star Clemson commit amassed 42 receptions for 1,021 yards and 13 touchdowns a year ago as a junior, while also rushing for 155 yards and two more scores of three attempts. 

 

2. Joshisa Trader (Chaminade-Madonna)

An offense that averaged 48 PPG a year ago, Chaminade-Madonna lands the top two players on this list, the first of which is Joshisa Trader at No. 2. Trader, a five-star prospect in the 2024 class, had 47 receptions for 743 yards and seven touchdowns last season. 

 

1. Jeremiah Smith (Chaminade-Madonna)

Jeremiah Smith is the second Chaminade-Madonna player to sit atop their respective position as we enter the 2023 season. (Lions starting quarterback Cedrick Bailey claims the top spot on that respective list as well.) Likely the state’s top 2024 prospect, Smith is one of the nation’s top players regardless of position. The five-star Ohio State commit is coming off a season in which he had 58 receptions for 1,073 yards and 20 touchdowns to help lead the Lions to the Class 1M state title.
