These 5 Florida High School Football Teams Could Improve on 2022 Win Totals

As we continue to look to the 2023 football season, we see a few programs that could be poised for a strong fall campaign. We’ve talked about some of these already. Let’s continue that forecast today, taking a look at five Florida high school football teams that could improve on their win totals of a year ago.

Mandarin Mustangs

After beginning last season with a 3-1 record, Class 4M’s Mandarin would go on to drop four of its final six games, eventually finishing the year at 5-5 with a 30-28 regional quarterfinal playoff loss at the hands of Seminole. The Mustangs are set to return a talented roster that could potentially win at least six games, They’re headlined by the likes of five-star wideout Jaime Ffrench, Jon Mitchell, Tramell Jones, and more.

Carrollwood Day Patriots

Carrollwood Day finished the 2022 season at 6-4 overall, with two losses coming at the hands of Clearwater Central Catholic, one of which was in the 1M regional finals. The Patriots return a talented senior class featuring names such as Tavoy Feagin, Anthony Carrie, and Bredell Richardson, among others. Don’t be surprised if they improve on that six-win total in this fall’s Florida high school football season.

Madison County Cowboys

After a strong 2021 season in which they went 11-3 to win the 1A state title, Class 1R’s Madison County had a down 2022, going 4-7 to reach the regional finals, where they fell to Union County 27-16. The potential is there for a bounce-back 2023 season, however, as names such as Jason McDaniel, Zavion Bryant, and John Christian return on offense, as well as a significant amount of production defensively.

Treasure Coast Titans

Another team coming off a disappointing 2022 campaign, Treasure Coast also had a strong 2021 season, going 10-2 to reach the Class 8A state semifinals. The Titans finished 4-7 last season after an 0-3 start, with three of their losses coming by one possession, and they still managed to reach the 4S regional semifinals. They certainly could improve on that Florida high school football season this fall, thanks to a roster that returns the likes of George Roberts, Jamison Davis, Jahari Grant, and others.

Miami Northwestern Bulls

We conclude with the Miami Northwestern Bulls, who finished the 2022 season with a 6-5 record to reach the 2M regional semifinals, where they lost to eventual champion Miami Central 34-30. In fact, this talent-rich team saw four of its five losses come to eventual state champions. Considering the Bulls have won at least 10 games in all but two Florida high school football seasons since 2016 (they went 3-2 in their Covid-shortened 2020 schedule), there is reason to believe they will improve on that six-win mark this fall.
