Then There Was One…: Round 3 Predictions

Sadly, we are down to one 1-6A team left in this year’s state tournament, the Colquitt County Packers. Camden gave it all they could against Roswell, but falling behind early was too much to overcome as they lost 34-15. Friday night was also the final chapter of the Seth Shuman era of Valdosta Wildcat football. They were unable to escape Grayson with a win, losing 54-21.
Back to the Pack! The Packers are hitting their stride at the right time. The dismantling of Central Gwinnett, 62-21, does nothing but strengthen Colquitt’s #1 ranking. Anytime you can drop 60+ points in the playoffs, it encourages the offense heading into the next game.

Now they will welcome a post-Thanksgiving visitor in the form of the South Forsyth War Eagles. South Forsyth, not normally a football powerhouse, is experiencing a season where things are finally going right for them. They will come in 11-1, with a high octane spread offense that could give Colquitt fits. The have already knocked off consistent playoff teams Norcross and Tucker. Although both victories were by seven points each and came at home, this team will be hungry to destroy the Packers’ dreams of a second consecutive state championship.

However, I don’t think things will be too unfamiliar for the Packer defenders who go up against a similar offense every day in practice. It will be a shoot-out in Moultrie on Black Friday. Two prolific, aerial-assaults will fight for a spot in the Final Four. I think Chase Parrish and Kiel Pollard will lead the Colquitt offense, while the stingy Packer defense will overwhelm their opposition. My final prediction:
Colquitt County 56, South Forsyth 18

Other 6A Elite 8 Predictions
Westlake (28) at Grayson (34)
Collins Hill (10) at Roswell (28)
Mill Creek (27) at Archer (42)
