10. Truitt Brown (Sickles)
We begin this list of the top Florida high school tight ends in 2023 with Brown, one of numerous names returning for Sickles on the offensive side of the ball. The senior is coming off a 2022 season in which he had 30 receptions for 485 yards and 5 touchdowns.
9. Tyler Cross (Olympia)
Cross is one of the biggest names returning for an Olympia team that made the Class 4M playoffs a year ago. As a junior, he had 17 receptions for 192 yards and 3 touchdowns, and he rushed for 59 yards and 2 more scores on 11 attempts.
8. Jukil Whitehead (St. John Paul II)
As a junior, Whitehead helped lead Class 1S’s St. John Paul II to a 7-3 record while recording 28 receptions for 420 yards and 10 touchdowns.
7. Benjamin Blackburn (Miami Columbus)
Blackburn returns for his senior season as one of the biggest names for defending Class 4M state champion Miami Columbus. A three-star Boston College commit, Blackburn helped lead the Explorers to a 14-1 record by amassing 10 receptions for 185 yards.
6. Joshua Schuchts (North Florida Christian)
Schuchts enters his senior season for a North Florida Christian program that reached the Class 1S regional finals and finished last season 11-1. He had 32 receptions for 607 yards and 3 touchdowns.
5. Ludovic Martin (Clearwater Academy International)
Beginning the top five Florida high school tight ends in 2023 is Martin, who is entering his senior season for a Clearwater Academy International team that went 10-1 a year ago. Martin, a three-star UMass commit, had 22 receptions for 352 yards and 3 touchdowns last season.
4. Timothy Lawson (Bishop Verot)
Lawson enters his senior season for a Bishop Verot program that finished last season at 10-3 and reached the Class 2S state semifinals. The three-star North Carolina commit had 32 receptions for 469 yards and a touchdown a year ago.
3. Guiseann Mirtil (Winter Haven)
Mirtil is a two-way player who had 44 tackles, 10 TFL, and 3 sacks as a junior, along with 29 receptions for 466 yards and 6 touchdowns.
2. Colton Heinrich (Cardinal Gibbons)
Heinrich is entering his senior season for a Cardinal Gibbons program that reached the Class 2M regional finals and finished with an 11-2 mark. A three-star Georgia commit, Heinrich had 36 receptions for 464 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2022.
1. Jonathan Echols (IMG Academy)
Rounding out the list of top Florida high school tight ends in 2023 is Echols, who is one of the state’s top overall athletes as well. Echols, a four-star Tennessee commit in the 2024 class, has seen time on both sides of the ball during his high school career. He worked primarily at tight end for IMG Academy a year ago, totaling 8 receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown.
