Tate Aggies

The Tate Aggies put together a miracle year this past season. Winning the District Championship, beating an undefeated Navarre team, and making it to the Florida State Semi-Finals before succumbing to the Armwood Hawks. First year Head Coach Jay Lindsey believes he was able to make a lot of inroads and growth in one year with the Tate football program. “Our kids came together and worked and played for each other to create a total team environment” explains Coach Lindsey.

The Aggies graduated over 20 seniors from the 2015 squad and only have 7 starters returning. A positive culture has been laid and expectations are for a return to championship football. Coach Lindsey is instilling accountability, work ethic, team work, and dedication to his players. His goal is to create a program that has a tradition of success.

A bright note for the Aggies this year is Quarterback Jake Henry. He made the position switch this spring. Last season he was the leading receiver (47 catches, 1010 yds.) and the leading defensive back (7 interceptions). He has assumed the mantel of leadership for the Aggies and for this upcoming season. Kicker/Punter Evan Legassey, is back to handle the special team chores and is a unique weapon for the team.

Defensively the line is the Aggie’s strong point this year, led by senior Evan Allen. This group is skilled enough to create headaches for opponents. Also LB Logan McGuffey and FS Reid Halfacre return to help teach and prepare the younger players.

Maybe this year’s Tate squad is not as rich as last year’s, but do not take them lightly.
