Composed of eight of the top high school basketball teams in the country, the NIBC is in its inaugural year of existence, and has now crowned an inaugural champion as Sunrise Christian (KS) defeated IMG Academy (FL) 57-52 last Saturday night.
Finishing the year at 9-1 in NIBC play in the process, Sunrise Christian were led by Kansas commit Gradey Dick with 16 points, as well as receiving strong play from others such as Duke commit Mark Mitchell, and juniors Layden Blocker and Scotty Middleton.
Having already played two close games this season, this might not be the last time these two teams meet as the Buffaloes and Ascenders are both expected to play in the Geico Nationals tournament next month.
