Spring High School Football Games Take Center Stage Across Georgia

Spring High School Football Georgia

Spring practices across Georgia have almost concluded, and spring games are plentiful. Teams statewide have battled each other for improvement purposes, and most results are in. Each program scores and controls these contests differently, so the listed totals may not be exact. With that said, here are some Georgia high school football spring scrimmage results.

Walton 33, Roswell 27

This score may be one of the most deceiving of the spring games covered here. While the Raiders only appeared to eke out a six-point victory, they led 27-3 when the varsity left the field. Walton’s new transfers, including RB Makari Bodiford and S Matthew Traynor, were on full display and appeared to fit in well.

Cedar Grove 48, Decatur 0

The Saints’ high-flying offense hasn’t missed a beat since last season, and they’ve continued to find a balance between quarterbacks Jamar Graham and EJ Colson. Decatur has some room for improvement, but a scrimmage against this 3A dynasty may bring more doubts than answers.

North Gwinnett 14, Northside-WR 0

As has been the theme for the Bulldogs under Bill Stewart, defense played a large role during this scrimmage, one of four shutouts on our list of spring games here. DT Kayden McDonald notched a scoop-and-score while the rest of the defense combined to force a shutout. Offense needs to be a point of emphasis for both teams this summer.

Callaway 42, Harris County 7

The 2020 2A state champions flexed their muscles again with a dominant rout of Harris County. Every facet of the game seemed to be well-rehearsed for the Cavaliers. The Tigers will certainly miss the contributions of QB Cooper Corey and ATH KD Hutchinson.

Milton 24, North Forsyth 6

This game was halted at halftime due to lightning in the area. However, prior to the stoppage, Milton rattled off 24 consecutive points after trailing by six. Dylan Warren and Luke Nickel headline an open quarterback spot for the Eagles, while North Forsyth’s Collin Miller may be an overlooked force during the 2022 season.

North Cobb 28, Harrison 7

The Warriors’ varsity squad dominated in the first half, as Malachi Singleton continued to lead the offense through both the air and ground. However, while North Cobb held Harrison to only 7 total points, the defense will face much bigger early-season threats that require more fine tuning.

Etowah 31, Pope 0

A little shocking? It appears that the Greyhounds have fallen far from the stature of that 7-4 squad last season. On the other hand, the one-win Eagles looked sharp, experimenting with different offensive play-calling and experiencing success often.

Stockbridge 28, Columbia 0

The Eagles return loads of talent from 2021, but they’ve yet to put any points on the board this year (somewhat surprisingly). Although it’s just a spring game, this favorable result for Stockbridge may be the spark they need to begin their ascent back to the success they had from 2012 through 2018.
