Shayne Davis Named Florida Male Athlete of the Month

Bradford Basketball Player Shayne Davis Voted ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month

The 2021-22 season was a magical run for head coach Sampson Jackson and the Bradford Tornadoes as the program claimed its first Florida Class 1A state championship. Undefeated since the calendar flipped to February, the Tornadoes saw numerous players contribute to their success during that span, including junior Shayne Davis, our ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for March with 39.79% of the votes.

Davis led the Tornadoes in scoring during the 2021-22 season at 11.4 PPG. He saved some of his best basketball of the year for Bradford’s two games in March – a 1A semifinal matchup with Hawthorne and the 1A state championship against Paxton.

In the Hawthorne game, Davis posted one of his better performances of the season as the Tornadoes won 53-35. He recorded 17 points, five rebounds, and three steals in the contest, going 4-for-7 from the field and 7-for-11 from the free throw line.

That success carried over into the 1A state title game as Bradford topped Paxton 64-44 and Davis posted a similar stat line – 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists – that put the finishing touches on an incredible 2021-22 season.

Davis finished the year with averages of 11.4 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 2.1 APG, and 2.1 SPG while shooting 46% from the field and 36% from 3-point range.

Congratulations to Bradford’s Shayne Davis, our ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for March.
