Most experts and critics would probably agree that a quarterback has the most stressful position on a football team. This seems true because quarterbacks tend to get the blame because they are looked upon as the leaders of a football team, although there is one position that can arguably be more stressful than that of a quarterback. The placekicker/punters arguably could be the most unappreciated positions in football, and maybe even all of sports. They may not have to endure criticism for their play throughout the game because they have limited chances to perform. But when they are called upon, they are put in difficult positions. This is why so many individuals appreciate athletes like Ray Guy who performed extremely well under pressure and is considered as the greatest football kicker of all time.
Last week, some athletes in Tifton, GA had the opportunity to attend a camp dedicated to Ray Guy. It is the Ray Guy ProKicker.com camp and it is hosted by his son Ryan Guy. The camp has been active for about 25 years and focuses on important aspects of kickoffs, long snapping, and punting techniques. The camp hosted multiple groups that worked out at Tift’s mini stadium last Monday and Tuesday. The camp went through shadow drills with the athletes and football kicking techniques.
This was the second year the camp has come through Tifton and Ryan spoke highly of the talent in the area. The camp is a great way to help young athletes work on their craft of kicking and show appreciation for the efforts of kickers.
