Last week, we here at ITG Next decided to rank the Top 5 individual Florida high school baseball teams since the year 2020, with that list dominated by some of the state’s premier programs. However, that also got us thinking: Who are the state’s top programs during that stretch as well?
Let’s take a look at that question today and rank our Top 5 Florida high school baseball programs since 2020.
(NOTE: This post does include stats and results factored in from the 2024 season so far as of April 3, 2024.)
5. Jesuit Tigers
- 2020-2024 Overall Record: 96-20
- Notable End Results: Class 5A State Champion (2022), Class 5A Runner-Up (2023)
- Runs Scored: 890
- Runs Allowed: 295
The Jesuit Tigers have been a constant in the Class 5A state title game across the past two seasons, winning it in 2022 and finishing as runner-up in 2023.
Owning a record of 96-20, Jesuit’s best year was likely their 2021 campaign, however, in which they finished with a 26-3 overall record.
4. Calvary Christian Warriors
- 2020-2024 Overall Record: 96-17
- Notable End Results: Class 3A State Champion (2023)
- Runs Scored: 834
- Runs Allowed: 207
Despite having won only one state title since 2020, it’s hard to find a more consistent program in Class 3A than the Calvary Christian Warriors, as the Clearwater program owns an overall record of 96-17 during that span.
The headline team from this period was the 2023 version of the Warriors, who went 28-4 and were led by one of Florida’s top pitching staffs, featuring Hunter Dietz, Landen Maroudis, and Liam Peterson.
3. North Broward Prep Eagles
- 2020-2024 Overall Record: 90-31
- Notable End Results: Class 4A State Champion (2021), Class 3A State Champion (2022), Class 3A Runner-Up (2023)
- Runs Scored: 754
- Runs Allowed: 381
The lone team on this list to win a state title across two different classifications is North Broward Prep, who won in Class 4A in 2021 and Class 3A in 2022.
North Broward Prep’s best season was likely their 2023 campaign in which they went 27-5 to finish as the Class 3A state runner-up.
2. Stoneman Douglas Eagles
- 2020-2024 Overall Record: 104-9
- Notable End Results: Class 7A State Champion (2021, 2022, 2023)
- Runs Scored: 888
- Runs Allowed: 199
A program that has owned Class 7A during recent years by winning three consecutive state titles, Stoneman Douglas owns a phenomenal 104-9 overall record since 2020.
The Eagles’ recent stretch is headlined by an undefeated 29-0 record during the 2023 campaign, with Stoneman Douglas’ talent across that span featuring the likes of Christian Rodriguez, Roman Anthony, Rylan Lujo, and Devin Fitz-Gerald.
1. IMG Academy Ascenders
- 2020-1024 Overall Record: 93-7
- Runs Scored: 839
- Runs Allowed: 226
Playing against a regional schedule across the Southeast, IMG Academy as a program, particularly the Ascenders national team, has posted a combined 93-7 record since the 2020 season.
The Ascenders’ five-year stretch was headlined by a strong 2023 campaign in which they went undefeated at 25-0.
Many of the nation’s elite prospects such as Elijah Green, Jackson Ferris, James Wood, and Noah Franco have suited up for the program in recent years.
Here are a few honorable mentions that didn’t quite make the Top 5, but are still worth noting: Lakeland Christian Vikings, St. Johns Country Day Spartans, Doral Academy Firebirds.
