Key Losses
The Stallions will miss two of their most productive rushers from last year as running backs Jett Hood and Tiago Tauler move on from their high school careers at Providence.
Hood had 63 carries for 531 yards in 2023 with six touchdowns, and he had two interceptions from his defensive back spot.
Tauler ended up with 1,220 career rushing yards with 13 touchdowns.
One of their primary blockers, offensive guard Ben Turner, will not return.
Linebacker John King finished with 53 tackles, including 11 sacks, last year alone and will not be back for 2024.
Also not returning is defensive back Ben Smith, who ended up with 55 tackles and three interceptions last year.
Who’s Back
Returning to lead the Providence offense this season is senior quarterback Mason Williams, who passed for 1,195 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023.
He’ll be looking for returning senior wideout Noah Johnson, who was a top target last season, bringing in 45 receptions with 612 yards and a touchdown.
Senior Cameron Ross is another returning receiver this year for the Providence passing game.
Outside linebacker Sam Heyward will be back, and the senior will look to add to his 82 career tackles and 12 ½ sacks this upcoming season.
Senior defensive tackle Anthony Prevalon has three career sacks, and he’ll be a top rushing threat again this year.
What to Expect
After leading the Stallions to their first winning season since 2019 last year, head coach Mo Williams is ready to get going with the start of the 2024 season.
In 2023 he guided Providence to a 7-4 record, which included a seven-game winning streak through the heart of the schedule.
Coach Williams said he wants to keep the positive vibes from last year moving forward into this year.
“I’m really excited to see what this team will bring to the table this year,” he said. “We have a talented group of young men who will be a force this season. My staff and I have high expectations for this team.”
