While fewer games were played statewide last week due to Hurricane Milton, numerous contests still took place across the Sunshine State. Here are some of the top performances from Week 8 of the 2024 Florida high school football season.
Jocarian Garrett, Running Back – Cottondale Hornets
After rushing for a season-high 418 yards a week ago, Jocarian Garrett rushed for 338 yards and four touchdowns on 30 attempts in Cottondale’s 56-53 win over Liberty County. The senior also returned two kickoffs for 17 yards.
Jeramiah Lee, Quarterback – Palm Glades Eagles
Jeramiah Lee completed 18-of-34 passes for 344 yards and four touchdowns in Palm Glades Prep Academy’s 24-6 win over Somerset Academy South Homestead.
Landin Williams, Running Back – Bell Bulldogs
Landin Williams rushed for a season-high 267 yards and three touchdowns on 37 attempts in Bell’s 42-28 win over Interlachen.
Aiden Justice, Athlete – Holmes County Blue Devils
Aiden Justice rushed for 26 yards and two touchdowns on three attempts and caught a pass for 8 yards in Holmes County’s 44-6 win against Vernon. The senior also had 11 tackles and three tackles for loss on defense.
Brady Godwin, Athlete – Jay Royals
Brady Godwin had three receptions for 104 yards and two touchdowns, plus 16 yards rushing on two attempts in Jay’s 34-0 win over Northview. The senior also had 10 tackles and two sacks on defense.
Makael Williams, Running Back – Pace Patriots
Makael Williams rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts in Pace’s 42-7 win over Tate. The sophomore also had one reception for 19 yards.
Kaden Howard, Athlete – Palm Glades Eagles
Kaden Howard had six receptions for 145 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 24-6 win over Somerset Academy South Homestead. The sophomore also had two tackles on defense.
Derrek Cooper, Athlete – Chaminade-Madonna Lions
Derrek Cooper rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on 11 attempts in the Lions’ 29-22 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. The junior also had five tackles defensively and returned three kickoffs for 57 yards.
Mack Jones, Linebacker – Arnold Marlins
Mack Jones compiled 17 tackles, three TFLs, one quarterback hurry, and one pass defensed in Arnold’s 14-3 win over Fort Walton Beach.
RJ Boynton, Linebacker – Gulliver Prep Raiders
RJ Boynton had 13 tackles and three TFLs in Gulliver Prep’s 40-7 win over Somerset Academy Silver Palms.
