Key Losses
The Eagles lose some playmakers who were a big part of the turnaround under Head Coach Chad Alligood last season. WR/DB Centavious Lowe leaves the program after having a solid career in which he recorded 40 catches for 629 and seven touchdowns, and carried the ball 11 times for just under 100 yards and two scores. He also made 37 tackles with an INT from his DB spot and finished with 473 return yards on kickoffs.
Micah Thurman, who played mostly at running back, leaves with 28 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 46 yards and a TD. The Eagles’ quarterback, Cameran Brown, passed for 867 yards and eight TDs, and he ran 74 times for 506 yards and four scores. DL Javen Allen graduated with 31 tackles and two sacks from his defensive position, while OL DeMarcus Allen also graduated.
Who’s Back
A host of seniors and a key junior lead the pack of returning starters and contributors from last season. They are junior safety Ricardo Jones, who will be counted on to once again wreck havoc on opposing offenses in 2022. He enjoyed an outstanding season in 2021 and was a big reason for Northside doubling up its win total from the previous year. Jones finished with 40 tackles, snagged six interceptions an caused two fumbles.
Also on defense, Alligood and his defensive staff welcome back DL Isaiah Harvey. The senior had 35 tackles, including five sacks on opposing QBs. Another senior defender returning this year is LB Mikell Roberts, who finished last season with 43 tackles, three sacks, and two fumble recoveries. On offense, Northside Warner Robins welcomes back big OL Quinton Lewis and WR Duke McClinton, both seniors.
What to Expect
If there is one team in the state that is stirring conversation this offseason, it’s the Eagles of Northside Warner Robins. This is a program that is accustomed to winning, and they did that for years. Now, after a couple of seasons of getting his house in order, Alligood is ready to show everyone that last year was the first step in getting the Eagles back on track, and that this year they are ready to fly even higher.
“Our expectations at Northside are always the same. We want to win the state championship and compete at the highest level,” said Alligood. The head coach admits that last year was exciting, but his team is ready to move forward. “We made it to the quarterfinals last year, which was two rounds short of our goal,” he said. “Our rally cry is ‘It’s great to be a Northside Eagle’, and this year’s group has taken that to heart and is giving their all.”
