The New Wave of South Georgia Prospects

A quick profile of the potential second-year starters in the class of 2016, instant impact players just embarking on college campuses, and the next can’t miss studs still in high school.

2016

Kiel Pollard – TE – South Carolina – The former Colquitt Packer standout had a quiet freshman campaign playing mostly special teams as he got acclimated to a new position. Nothing but positives have come out from Columbia regarding Pollard’s off-season. He will look to provide a nice Jordan Reed-esque compliment to fellow teammate and the SEC’s top tight end Hayden Hurst as the Gamecock offense continues to trend upward.

Todd Bradley – LB – Georgia Southern – Part of the massive class of 2016 South Georgia prospects to commit to the Eagles, Bradley made a few contributions on special teams early on. With quite a few departures from the linebacker core, he has a chance to solidify a role for the upcoming year.

2017

Aubrey Solomon – DT – Michigan – The rich got richer. Solomon (#2 DT) left Lee County to Michigan and will be teaming up with Rashan Gary (#1 DT in 2016) to provide the Wolverines with a tantalizing interior line. With the quality of coaching Michigan has on the defensive side of the ball, expect Solomon to thrive.

Tamorrion Terry – WR – Florida State – From Turner County to Tallahassee, the four-star receiver has a chance to be an early impact from an unexperienced group. Terry becoming a target for FSU quarterback Deondre Francois this early in his career will be very beneficial for his development.

2018

JJ Peterson – LB – Colquitt Co. – After a slow start out of the gate, the Packers finished strong and will look to bring that momentum into 2017. The key cog to that will be elite play by senior JJ Peterson. Already holding offers from some of the top teams in the country, it appears Alabama may be the early favorite. With a nice combination of speed and strength, Peterson will cause havoc for many offensive coordinators.

Dameon Pierce – RB – Bainbridge – Pierce already has the size to compete at the next level and possesses abilities that are coveted by some of the SEC’s best. The former Alabama commit burst on the scene after a remarkable sophomore season. While he still boasted gaudy numbers in 2016, Pierce will be determined to improve upon that.
