Since the 2023 college football season concluded back in January, the talk surrounding the collegiate sports world has been the transfer portal, in which countless star players from across the country have opted to enter their names in recent months. Let’s take a look at some of the former Florida high school football standouts who have entered the transfer portal so far this offseason, starting with one of the biggest names currently available.
Jason Zandamela, IOL – USC Trojans
We begin with an incoming true freshman in Jason Zandamela, who is the transfer portal’s top uncommitted prospect at the time of writing. The USC freshman, who played in high school at Clearwater Academy International, recently spent the spring with the Trojans. He was a four-star prospect from the 2024 Class who ranked as the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the nation.
Dezz Ricks, CB – Alabama Crimson Tide
Dezz Ricks, a former five-star prospect from the 2023 Class out of IMG Academy, transferred to Texas A&M earlier this offseason after spending his true freshman season last year in the SEC at Alabama. The former IMG Academy cornerback did not record any stats with the Crimson Tide a year ago.
Cormani McClain, CB – Colorado Buffaloes
Cormani McClain was also a five-star cornerback from the 2023 Class. The Lakeland star went on to suit up for Colorado this past fall as a true freshman, making 13 tackles, one tackle for loss, and a pair of pass deflections. The former five-star is now one of the top uncommitted players available in the transfer portal at the time of writing, regardless of position.
Amari Niblack, TE – Alabama Crimson Tide
Amari Niblack, a former four-star athlete out of Lakewood, has played for Alabama each of the last two seasons, amassing a combined 342 yards and five touchdowns on 21 receptions. Niblack has, however, transferred to Texas, where he will remain in the SEC.
Marvin Jones Jr., EDGE – Georgia Bulldogs
Marvin Jones Jr. was a five-star edge rusher out of American Heritage in the 2022 Class who went on to play collegiately at Georgia for two seasons, amassing a combined 16 tackles, 5 ½ tackles for loss, two sacks, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble. The former five-star has, however, entered the transfer portal, where he will return to the Sunshine State to suit up for Florida State.
Alongside those five, here are a few other former Florida high school football stars who have entered the transfer portal so far this offseason: running back Raheim Sanders, who moves from Arkansas to South Carolina; safety Keon Sabb, who moves from Michigan to Alabama; and wide receiver Jalen Brown.
