Can Anyone Beat No. 1 Montverde Academy Basketball?
The Eagles have dominated since the 2012 season, and it doesn’t look like that is going to change any time soon. Coach Kevin Boyle has managed to bring in a top-10 class for nine years straight. In that same time span, Montverde has won over 90% of their games and won four high school national championships.
This year’s team is led by Jalen Duren, Caleb Houstan, and Dariq Whitehead, while also adding Daron Holmes (former Arizona player of the year), Malik Reneau, Justice Williams, and Jalen Hood-Schifino.
With these high caliber athletes, the commitment to winning, and arguably the best coach in high school sports today, the Eagles look to follow up their 25-0 undefeated national championship season with a repeat performance.
Oak Hill Academy, Sunrise Christian Academy, Hamilton Heights Christian Academy, and Wasatch Academy will look to have something to say about that with the formation of the National Interscholastic Basketball League. Something tells me the Eagles are not only ready to soar, but they are ready for all challengers this season and beyond.
