Midfield High School Basketball Player Kamiya Webb Named ITG Next Alabama Female Athlete of the Month for February 2024
Midfield basketball player Kamiya Webb has been voted the ITG Next Alabama Female Athlete of the Month for February 2024 by receiving 40.33% of the possible votes. Resulting in her on-court play from January, those additional finalists were Whitesburg Christian indoor track & field’s Anna Pierce, Hamilton basketball’s Aubrey Sorrells, and Houston Academy indoor track & field’s Macauley Flanagan.
For a Midfield team that went an impressive 7-0 on the hardwood during January, it’s clear by the numbers alone the impact Webb had toward the Lady Patriots’ success.
Across six games during January, Webb averaged a double-double at 18.7 PPG and 12.5 RPG for the Lady Patriots, along with 0.5 APG, 2 SPG, and 2.5 BPG. Of those six games, Webb scored in double-figures in each contest, while also having double-digit rebounds in four matchups, which translated to four double-doubles during the month.
Those double-doubles for Webb came in games against Bessemer City, Childersburg, McAdory, and Childersburg, each of which were toward the start of the month. That stretch also included a near 20/20 game for Webb in a 68-59 home win over Childersburg in which she had 22 points, 19 rebounds, and five blocks.
For the 2023-24 season overall, Webb averaged 15.3 PPG, 13.6 RPG, 0.3 APG, 1.5 SPG, 4.4 BPG across 25 games for a Lady Patriots team that won the Class 3A-Area 9 Tournament. Midfield would also reach the Class 3A Regional Semifinals as well, where they recently fell to Lauderdale County by a final score of 72-37.
In all, Webb had a double-double in all-but-six of her 25 games played, as well as seven contests of scoring at-least 20+ points. Webb also had three games with 20+ rebounds, as well as one 20/20 game with a 24-point and 21-rebound game in a 69-56 loss to Wenonah back on December 5.
