McGill-Toolen High School Volleyball Player Paris McQuirter Named ITG Next Alabama Female Athlete of the Month for October 2024
One of the state’s top volleyball players, Paris McQuirter of McGill-Toolen High School has been voted the ITG Next Alabama Female Athlete of the Month for October 2024.
Coming as a result of her on-court play in September, McQuirter received 96.74% of the possible votes over a list of three additional finalists: Central-Phenix City flag football player Gerritt Griggs, Chelsea volleyball player Lauren Buchanan, and Chelsea cross country runner Ty Cason.
McQuirter is a massive reason why McGill-Toolen has been one of Alabama’s top volleyball teams throughout the 2024 season, as well as in years past. At the time of writing, the back-to-back AHSAA Class 7A state champions sit at 39-9 for the year with only four of those losses coming against in-state teams. McGill-Toolen has also won 99 sets this season compared to only 29 dropped and appear set for a run at yet another Class 7A state title.
So far this season, McQuirter is McGill-Toolen’s leader in multiple statistical categories. At the time of writing, she has played in 128 total sets. Over that span, McQuirter has totals of a team-high 510 kills, 44 aces, 56 blocks, 293 digs, 14 assists, and 504 returns.
McQuirter holds notable season averages of 4.0 kills per set, a 44.6% kill percentage, and 2.3 digs per set, among others.
Taking an even deeper look at McQuirter’s season, a majority of the senior’s production this fall came during September, a month in which she helped lead McGill-Toolen to a combined 14-2 record.
In all, McQuirter finished the month with a combined stat line of 238 kills, 15 aces, 24 blocks, 140 digs, nine assists, and 211 returns. McQuirter also had season-high’s of 27 kills in a loss to Spanish Fort during the month, as well as 20 digs in that same game, along with 36 returns in a win over Bob Jones.
