Lindsay Lane Christian Academy Volleyball Player Lydia Carter Named ITG Next’s November 2024 Alabama Female Athlete of the Month
Based on her play during October, Lindsay Lane Christian standout volleyball player Lydia Carter has been voted the ITG Next Alabama Female November 2024 Athlete of the Month.
To receive the honor, Carter amassed an overwhelming 96.70% of possible votes over a trio of additional finalists, including Gardendale cross country runner Caylie Vance, Central-Phenix City flag football player Gerritt Griggs, and Auburn cross country runner Sarah Tole.
In what was the final month of the 2024 high school volleyball season for the Lions, it’s clear the impact Carter had toward Lindsay Lane Christian’s success in October.
During the month, the Lions went on a memorable end-of-season run that ended with a loss in the Class 2A state championship game. Also included in October was an overall record of 14-6 for Lindsay Lane Christian, as well as a Class 2A-Area 15 runner-up finish.
As for Carter, the senior, who ranked among the state’s leaders in kills this season, finished the month with a combined stat line of 330 kills, 25 aces, six blocks, 276 digs, seven assists, and 260 returns. This month also included five games of 20 or more kills and a few season highs, including three in a monster showing in a win over Winston County on Oct. 24 in which she had 31 kills, two aces, 29 digs, two assists, and 32 returns.
Carter finished the season with over 700 kills, ending with a final stat line of 748 kills, 90 aces, 10 blocks, 603 digs, 34 assists, and 662 returns.
