Jefferson, Boda Star in Florida High School Football Semifinals

Before we get to the 2022 FHSAA state title matchups beginning later this week, let’s take a look back at the regional semifinals and find some of the biggest performances from Florida high school football.

Jamarkus Jefferson – Northview

Jefferson rushed for 252 yards and 2 touchdowns on 34 attempts, along with catching a pass for 12 yards and an additional score, in Northview’s 21-11 win over Union County. Jefferson also compiled 10 tackles on defense, along with 2 TFL, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and a PD.

Blake Boda – Cocoa

Boda completed 19-of-25 passes for 328 yards and 2 touchdowns in Cocoa’s 31-21 Florida high school semifinals win over Bradford.

Cedrick Bailey – Chaminade-Madonna

Bailey completed 9-of-13 passes for 133 yards and 3 touchdowns in Chaminade-Madonna’s 56-0 shutout win over True North Classical Academy.

Alberto Mendoza – Miami Columbus

Mendoza completed 18-of-25 passes for 242 yards and 3 touchdowns, while also rushing for 18 yards on 4 attempts, in the Explorers’ 41-36 win over Ocoee.

Carter Smith – Bishop Verot

Smith completed 19-of-29 passes for 183 yards and rushed for 59 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 15 attempts in Bishop Verot’s 38-28 Florida high school semifinals loss to Florida State.

Micahi Danzy – Florida State

Danzy rushed for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns on 19 attempts, and he also caught a pass for 21 yards in Florida State’s 38-28 win over Bishop Verot.

Deshon Jenkins Jr. – Bishop Verot

Jenkins rushed for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns on 22 carries in Bishop Verot’s 38-28 loss to Florida State.

Brandon Inniss – American Heritage

Inniss had 8 receptions for 137 yards and a touchdown in American Heritage’s 21-14 win over Bolles.

Mark Fletcher – American Heritage

Fletcher rushed for 88 yards and 2 touchdowns on 18 tries in American Heritage’s 21-14 win over Bolles.

Sean Major – Lake Wales

Major compiled 16 tackles, 12 of which were solo, along with 5 TFL in Lake Wales’ 37-7 win over Columbia.

Jasen Lopez – True North Classical Academy

Lopez had 11 receptions for 150 yards, and he made 3 tackles and 2 PDs on defense in True North Classical Academy’s 56-0 loss to Chaminade-Madonna.

David Vadala – American Heritage

Vadala compiled 14 tackles (7 solo) and 2 TFL in the Patriots’ 21-14 win over Bolles.
