Thompson cruised to a dominant 52-14 win over Hoover in the 7A semifinals partially due to the dominant performance by Thompson RB Jarrett Crockett. Crockett was a force on the ground for the entire game as he carried the ball 29 times in the contest for 226 yards and scored three TDs. Crockett eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season during the contest.
