ITG Next Announces 2024 Alabama High School Football All-State Team

After taking a look at the state of Georgia, we here at ITG Next release our first-ever Alabama High School Football All-State Team for the 2024 season. This will be a breakdown of offense, defense, and special teams and features only one team altogether.

Here is who we labeled as the best of the best in Alabama high school football in 2024 at each position.

OFFENSE

QB – Preston Lancaster, Tuscaloosa Academy, C/O 2025

  • 70.2 % completion percentage
  • 4,293 yards passing
  • 47-6 TD-INT ratio
  • 109 carries
  • 426 yards rushing
  • 11 TDs rushing

Beginning at quarterback, this was certainly a difficult choice to settle on one name, but it’s hard to look past what Preston Lancaster did during his senior season at Tuscaloosa Academy. 

The senior led the Knights to a Class 2A state runner-up finish at 12-3 overall while completing 70.2% of passes for a state-leading 4,293 yards with a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 47-to-6. He also rushed for 11 more scores.

RB – Alvin Henderson, Elba, C/O 2025

  • 276 carries
  • 3,620 yards rushing 
  • 61 TDs rushing 

After a 2024 season in which running back Alvin Henderson became the state’s all-time leading rusher, this is an easy choice, possibly the easiest of any on this list. 

Henderson, an Auburn signee, capped his high school career with a phenomenal senior season that featured a state-leading 3,620 yards rushing and 61 touchdowns on 276 attempts. He led Class 1A’s Elba to an 11-3 record and a state semifinals appearance.

RB – Ezavier Crowell, Jackson, C/O 2026

  • 1,964 yards rushing 
  • 31 TDs rushing 
  • 9 receptions
  • 258 yards receiving 
  • 2 TDs receiving

Ezavier Crowell was a key factor in Jackson’s success that included a 14-1 overall record and the Class 4A state championship. The five-star running back rushed for 1,964 yards and 31 touchdowns on 168 attempts as a sophomore while also ranking among the state’s leaders with an average of 11.7 yards per carry.

On Jan. 29, Crowell announced via X, the platform previously known as Twitter, that he had officially reclassified from the Class of 2027 to the Class of 2026.

WR – Gabe Glover, Houston Academy, C/O 2025

  • 69 receptions
  • 1,636 yards receiving 
  • 25 TDs receiving

Gabe Glover, a two-way player who had 32 tackles defensively, was a big reason why Class 3A’s Houston Academy went 13-2 with a state runner-up finish in 2024. Offensively, the senior wide receiver had a state-leading 1,636 yards and 25 touchdowns on 69 receptions.

WR – Corey Barber, Spain Park, C/O 2026

  • 17 TDs receiving

Wide receiver Corey Barber was a significant factor in Spain Park’s stellar 12-1 season in which the Jaguars went on a run to the Class 6A state quarterfinals. Across 13 games, the junior ranked among the state’s leading receivers by hauling in 73 receptions for 1,424 yards and 17 touchdowns.

WR – Tremell Washington, Pleasant Grove, C/O 2025

  • 62 receptions
  • 1,354 yards receiving 
  • 17 TDs receiving
  • 14 carries
  • 116 yards rushing
  • 1 TD rushing

Wide receiver Tremell Washington was a key name during Pleasant Grove’s 2024 season, which saw the Spartans go 9-2 with a Class 4A second-round playoff appearance. The senior hauled in 62 receptions for 1,354 yards and 17 touchdowns while also rushing for another score.

OL – Mal Waldrep, Central-Phenix City, C/O 2025

2024 Stats: N/A

Alabama signee Mal Waldrep helped pave the way offensively for a Central-Phenix City team that ended the year at 10-3 overall and as the Class 7A state runner-up. Central-Phenix City averaged 38.5 points per game offensively and rushed for a season total of 2,214 yards and 33 scores.

OL – Micah DeBose, Theodore, C/O 2025

2024 Stats: N/A

Micah DeBose anchored a Theodore program that finished 5-5 overall in Class 6A. The Alabama signee led the Bobcats offense to an average of 19 PPG offensively and a total of 1,780 yards rushing with 17 touchdowns on the ground.

OL – Hugh Bodiford, Auburn, C/O 2025

2024 Stats: N/A

Hugh Bodiford helped lead Class 7A’s Auburn to a 10-1 season that included a state quarterfinals appearance. The Tigers’ offense averaged 44.7 PPG and had a total of 2,544 yards rushing with 40 touchdowns on the ground during the season.

OL – Barron Criddle, Thompson, C/O 2025

2024 Stats: N/A

Barron Criddle helped lead the Thompson offense to an average of 31.8 PPG and a total of 2,319 yards rushing with 25 scores on the ground. Thompson went 11-3 in 2024 to win the Class 7A state title.

OL – Jamin Brown, Southside (Gadsden), C/O 2025

2024 Stats: N/A

Jamin Brown helped lead Southside (Gadsden) to a 6-5 overall record and a Class 6A first-round playoff appearance. The Panthers averaged 23.4 PPG offensively in 2024.

DEFENSE

DL – Jabarrius Garror, Vigor, C/O 2027

2024 Stats (across 14 games)

  • 104 tackles
  • 56 TFLs
  • 21 ½ sacks

Jabarrius Garror helped lead Class 5A’s Vigor to a 12-2 overall record and a state semifinals appearance in 2024. Across 14 games, the sophomore ranked among Alabama’s sack leaders with 21 ½ total while also amassing 104 tackles with 56 tackles for loss.

DL – Jourdin Crawford, Parker, C/O 2025

  • 84 tackles
  • 23 ½ TFLs 
  • 11 sacks

Jourdin Crawford enjoyed a stellar senior season at Parker, helping lead the Thundering Herd to a 14-1 overall record and the Class 6A state title. Across 15 games, the Auburn signee amassed 84 total tackles with 23 ½ TFLs and 11 sacks.

DL – Jared Smith, Thompson, C/O 2025

  • 89 tackles
  • 22 TFLs 
  • 10 ½ sacks

Auburn signee Jared Smith was a key factor in Thompson’s defensive front on their way to an 11-3 record and the Class 7A state title. In 2024 Smith racked up a combined 89 tackles, 22 TFLs, and 10 ½ sacks.

DL – Zion Grady, Enterprise, C/O 2025

Zion Grady helped lead Class 7A’s Enterprise to an 8-5 overall record and a semifinals appearance in 2024. The Ohio State signee compiled 70 tackles, 28 TFLs, and 14 sacks on the year.

LB – Landon Everett, Gulf Shores, C/O 2026

Landon Everett was one of the state’s more prominent tacklers for a Gulf Shores team that went 4-6 overall in Class 6A in 2024. The junior ended the year with 178 tackles and 20 ½ TFLs, and his average of 17.8 tackles per game ranked at the top of the state.

LB – Anthony Jones, St. Paul’s Episcopal, C/O 2026

2024 Stats: N/A

Anthony Jones, one of the state’s top juniors, helped lead St. Paul’s Episcopal to a 9-3 overall record and a Class 6A second-round playoff appearance in 2024. Jones headlined a Saints defense that allowed only 12 PPG to opponents.

LB – Kentonio Kelly Jr., Vigor, C/O 2025

  • 162 tackles
  • 49 TFLs
  • 6 sacks
  • 3 INTs

Kentonio Kelly Jr. was one of the state’s more productive linebackers in 2024 as he helped lead Vigor to a 12-2 overall record and a Class 5A state semifinals appearance. Across 14 games, the senior compiled 162 tackles, 49 TFLs, six sacks, and three interceptions.

DB – Anquon Fegans, Thompson, C/O 2025

2024 Stats (across 13 games)

  • 81 tackles
  • 9 TFLs
  • 6 INTs

Anquon Fegans enjoyed a stellar senior season at Thompson, helping lead the Warriors to an 11-3 record and the Class 7A state title in 2024. Across 13 games, Fegans amassed 81 tackles, nine TFLs, and six interceptions.

DB – Na’eem Offord, Parker, C/O 2025

2024 Stats (across 14 games)

  • 46 tackles
  • 4 INTs

Oregon signee and two-way player Na’eem Offord helped lead Parker to a stellar 14-1 record and the Class 6A state title. Defensively, Offord  had 46 tackles and four interceptions across 14 games on the year.

DB – Timothy Merritt, Parker, C/O 2025

2024 Stats (across 15 games)

  • 41 tackles
  • 2 INTs

Timothy Merritt helped lead Parker to the 2024 Class 6A state title and a 14-1 overall record. The Tennessee signee amassed 41 tackles and two interceptions defensively across 15 games.

DB – Jotavion Pierce, Montgomery Catholic, C/O 2025

2024 Stats (across 13 games)

  • 76 tackles
  • 4 TFLs 
  • 8 INTs

Jotavion Pierce was a prominent name on Montgomery Catholic’s roster during their undefeated 14-0 season that ended with them winning the 2024 Class 5A state title. Across 13 games, Pierce had 76 tackles, four TFLs, and eight interceptions.

SPECIAL TEAMS

K – Conner Hughes, Fort Payne, C/O 2025

2024 Stats (across 13 games)

  • 43-of-43 PATs
  • 15-of-19 FGs

Conner Hughes was arguably the state’s top kicker in 2024 for a Fort Payne team that went 10-3 to make the Class 6A state quarterfinals. The senior was a perfect 43-for-43 on extra point attempts while also making 15-of-19 field goals.

P – John Alan McGuire, Thompson, C/O 2025

2024 Stats (across 14 games)

  • 50 punts
  • 2,172 yards punting
  • 43.4 AVG/PUNT

Auburn signee John Alan McGuire helped lead Thompson to the Class 7A state title by playing a key role on special teams for the 11-3 Warriors. McGuire averaged 43.4 yards per punt across 50 total punts while also downing 16 inside the 20-yard line with a long of 63 yards.

KR/PR – Peyton Plott, Auburn, C/O 2025

2024 Stats (across 11 games)

  • 10 kick returns
    • 437 yards
  • 12 punt returns
    • 337 yards

Peyton Plott helped lead Auburn to a 10-1 overall record and a Class 7A state quarterfinals appearance in 2024. On special teams, Plott ranked among the state’s leaders in both kick return and punt return yardage while also hauling in 48 receptions for 972 yards and five scores on offense.
