One of the nation’s top 2023 wide receiver recruits, Stranahan’s Hykeem Williams is no stranger to success on the football field. Coming off a junior season in which he caught 40 passes for 750 yards and 11 touchdowns, Williams is set to enter his senior campaign as one of the top players in Florida, as well as the entire country.
A quick glance at his statistics or highlight film makes it clear just how good Williams is. A starting wide receiver for the Dragons, Williams is a gifted athlete at 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds who also saw time occasionally on the defensive side of the ball during the 2021 season. Lining up as an edge rusher, he was a difference maker for the Stranahan defense, often getting to the quarterback.
On the offensive side of the ball, Williams presents matchup problems for defensive backs thanks to his pure level of athleticism at 6-foot-3. Able to lineup at multiple spots on the field, the four-star is also tough to stop when he gets into open space, and is as good as anyone in the state at going up and winning a jump ball.
Williams is a phenomenal basketball player as well. He made a significant impact on the hardwood for the Dragons during the 2021-22 season by helping lead Stranahan to the FHSAA Class 5A state championship.
He led the Dragons in multiple statistical categories, including a double-double average at 12.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Included in that junior season were a few phenomenal performances and stretches, arguably none bigger than back-to-back double-doubles in the Final Four.
While his talent on the hardwood is undeniable, Williams draws the most attention as a top football recruit. As a wide receiver prospect, he is coveted by many of the nation’s top collegiate programs.
Holding offers from over 30 programs across the country, Williams is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the nation’s No. 39 overall player, as well as the No. 6 wide receiver nationally and the No. 10 player in the state of Florida.
Though he’s shown interest and visited a few programs, including Alabama, Georgia, Pittsburgh, and Texas A&M, a decision from Williams may not be imminent. When it does happen, however, it’s certain that his school of choice will have one of the most talented prospects Florida has to offer.
It’s no secret that Williams is a star in the making. Considering his success at Stranahan on both the football field and basketball court, it’s clear just how good of an athlete he is and can be at the next level.
