After looking at the high school origins of seven 2022 SEC starting quarterbacks a week ago, we now turn to the remaining seven. The first half of the list went alphabetically from Alabama through LSU; the second half covers Mississippi State through Vanderbilt.
Will Rogers – Mississippi State
One of the top passing quarterbacks in the SEC a year ago – and so far in 2022 as well – Rogers came to Mississippi State as an in-state prospect in the Bulldogs’ 2020 class from Brandon High School. Rated as a three-star prospect, Rogers concluded his prep career at Brandon with 9,093 passing yards and 79 touchdowns, 38 of which came as a senior.
Brady Cook – Missouri
Cook, who won Missouri’s starting job during the offseason, also was an in-state product in the 2020 class. Rated as a three-star prospect, Cook attended Chaminade College Prep, where he was considered among the top 20 overall players in Missouri.
Jaxson Dart – Ole Miss
Dart, a sophomore, began his collegiate career a year ago at USC before transferring to Ole Miss this past offseason. He was a four-star prospect in the 2021 class out of Utah’s Corner Canyon High School, where he led the nation with 4,691 passing yards and 67 touchdowns as a senior.
Spencer Rattler – South Carolina
Rattler, who transferred to South Carolina from Oklahoma in the offseason, was considered the No. 1 quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class before taking his talents to Norman. The five-star prospect attended Pinnacle High School in Arizona, where he threw for a state-record 11,083 yards and 116 touchdowns.
Hendon Hooker – Tennessee
Hooker, who began his collegiate career at Virginia Tech, returned for the Volunteers as one of the top SEC quarterbacks entering the 2022 season. The Tennessee starter was a four-star prospect in the 2017 class out of Dudley High School in North Carolina, accounting for 103 total touchdowns in his high school career.
Haynes King – Texas A&M
King returned to Texas A&M for his redshirt freshman season this fall and won the Aggies starting job during fall camp. The redshirt freshman is a former in-state prospect from the 2020 class out of Longview High School, where as a four-star he accounted for 30 total touchdowns as a senior.
Mike Wright – Vanderbilt
The returning starter at Vanderbilt, Wright is a former three-star prospect in the 2020 class out of Woodward Academy in Georgia. Wright’s time in high school is largely remembered by his 2019 senior season, when he accounted for 3,369 total yards and 50 touchdowns on offense.
