We tell you everything you need to know about the 2022 Gulliver Prep football team in this preview. We take a look at roster changes and what fans can expect from the team this season.

2021 Stats

  • Overall Record: 11-2
  • Points Scored: 505
  • Points Allowed: 211

Key Losses

Headlining the Raiders’ key losses from last season is Carson Haggard, who threw for 3,000+ yards and 30+ touchdowns as one of the state’s top quarterbacks a year ago. In addition to Haggard, there are two other notable losses on the Gulliver Prep offense in leading receiver De’Carlo Donaldson and running back Sedrick Irvin Jr., who transferred.

On defense, Gulliver Prep’s biggest losses include two-way player Travious Lathan and defensive lineman Kareem Wilson. Jayvon Only and Bakari Edwards, who each collected over 40 tackles a year ago, also have moved on, as have others including Kamar Meza and Max Herskowitz.

Who’s Back

Undoubtedly the biggest returning name for Gulliver Prep in 2022 is Jalen Brown, a five-star prospect who is among the top wide receivers in the state. Coming off a junior season in which he had more than 1,000 yards receiving, Brown will play a significant role for the Raiders alongside wide receiver Antwaan Mays, while Stefano Luis, Jack Whitehouse, and Kenny Williams are also names to know.

Defensively, Gulliver Prep returns one of their top pass rushers, Lamont Green Jr., as well as two notable names in the secondary in Daniel Harris and Antonio Smith. Darriel Cannon is another key returnee in the Raiders’ secondary, while Dylan Calero returns for his junior season after ranking among Gulliver Prep’s top tacklers a year ago.

What to Expect

After reaching a regional final last season, Gulliver Prep enters the 2022 campaign tasked with replacing multiple keys names, with arguably no position bigger than at quarterback. Still, there’s no denying that Gulliver Prep has a special roster led by one of the state’s top overall players in Brown.

In a tough 2M-Region 4, Gulliver Prep will once again return to the playoffs in 2022, with the Raiders likely reaching at least a regional semifinal later this fall.

Prediction

Gulliver Prep will win at least eight games, making at least a regional semifinal appearance.
