Grayson Football and Basketball Cream of the Crop
Are Grayson football and basketball the cream of the crop?
You rarely see teams dominant in both football and basketball, but the Rams have made their mark in both sports.
Since the basketball team suffered their heartbreaking loss in the 2020 GHSA 7A State Championship to Wheeler, it has been nothing but winning in Loganville.
Starting with the undefeated and roller coaster of a season battling COVID-19 and the Jake Garcia transfer, the football team succeeded through it all, going 14-0 and defeating Collins Hill in the state championship. They achieved this even without star running back Phil Mafah as he got hurt during first round of the state playoffs in 2020.
To cap it all off, their postseason ranked went to No. 2 in the country, only trailing IMG Academy in Florida and No. 1 in Georgia by Maxpreps.
On the other hand, basketball is thriving following their state loss a season ago. The team is 15-3 and ranked No. 3 in Georgia and No. 22 nationally by MaxPreps.
They currently are on a 7-game winning streak heading into the final six games of the season.
Rams basketball is stacked with talent with Ian Schieffelin, Kaden McArthur, Tyrese Elliot, Robert Cowherd, and Gicarri Harris.
There’s no question that the Rams will make noise once the playoffs roll around in hopes to capture the ring that they just missed out on last year.
But will they get it so they celebrate a 2020-21 year a championship wins for Rams Athletics?
Only time will tell.
