Girls Flag Football Becomes Sanctioned Sport in Alabama

Girls flag football has become an Alabama High School Association-sanctioned sport. In partnership with the Atlanta Falcons and NFL FLAG, the sport will be available for AHSAA member schools beginning in the fall. The season will end with a December championship game at the Super 7 State High School Football Championships in Birmingham. “After discussions with the Atlanta Falcons for several months, we are excited to be adding this girls’ sport for our membership. We think it will grow rapidly,” said AHSAA Associate Executive Director Alvin Briggs in a Falcons’ press release. Nike will provide apparel to assist the AHSAA with the sport’s launch.
