Georgia High School Football Rankings: Week 14

The playoffs are underway with Round 1 in the books. Most teams in our Georgia high school football rankings for 1A-3A won and stayed in place. Two of our Top 25 teams lost, bringing their season to an end, as well as their run in the ITG Next rankings.

The biggest surprise was Sandy Creek, who was previously ranked No. 15 after surprising everyone the previous week by defeating Cedar Grove. They were in turn upset by previously unranked Dawson County. The Tigers are unranked no longer, however, moving in at No. 25.

The other previously ranked team that falls out of the Top 25 is Rockmart, who suffered a first-round playoff loss to unranked Stephens County. That allows Crisp County to enter the poll for the first time this season.

If your team isn’t ranked yet, don’t give up hope! A playoff win could change that.

Our Top 25 Georgia high school football rankings for 4A-7A saw perhaps the biggest shocker in all of the first-round playoff matchups with Jefferson losing to Hapeville Charter, a team that came in with just five wins. Jefferson was a preseason favorite to compete for the 4A state title.

The Colquitt County loss to Walton was another surprise, especially given that Colquitt County had won their first-round playoff game for 12 straight seasons prior to this year.

Coffee is the third Top 25 team to lose in the first-round matchups, suffering a season-ending loss to Creekside. The Seminoles earned the biggest leap in this week’s poll with their win, with Walton also jumping several spots with their domination over the Packers in Moultrie.

Newcomers to the poll are Perry, Brookwood, and Kennesaw Mountain.
