Every classification aside from 1M and 1S took the field for Florida high school playoff action last week. Here we look at some of the top performers from those FHSAA regional quarterfinal and SSAA state championship games.
QB Wells Bettenhausen (Walton)
Bettenhausen leads off our list of Florida high school top performers with some eye-popping numbers. He completed only 8-of-18 pass attempts, but 7 of those went for touchdowns in Walton’s 63-28 win over South Walton. The junior finished with 249 yards passing, and he also rushed for 62 yards on 7 attempts.
QB Jacob Drackett (Calvary Christian-Clearwater)
Drackett completed 22-of-27 passes for 410 yards and 6 touchdowns in Calvary Christian-Clearwater’s 56-28 win over Lakewood. The senior also rushed for 12 yards and a touchdown on 3 attempts.
QB Haden Klees (Wakulla)
Klees completed 17-of-26 passes for 298 yards and 5 touchdowns, while also rushing for 36 yards on 5 attempts, in Wakulla’s 46-14 win over Gadsden County.
QB Noah Grubbs (Lake Mary)
Grubbs completed 30-of-49 passes for 510 yards with 5 touchdowns in Lake Mary’s 42-38 win over Boone. The sophomore also rushed for a touchdown.
QB Jayce Nixon (Gaither)
Nixon completed 18-of-25 passes for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns, while also rushing for 48 yards on 4 attempts, in Gaither’s 42-14 win over St. Petersburg.
RB Laython Biddle (Bartram Trail)
Biddle rushed for 333 yards and 6 touchdowns on 32 carries in Bartram Trail’s 67-55 win over Navarre.
RB Shawn Simeon (Naples)
Simeon rushed for 253 yards and 4 touchdowns on 19 attempts in Naples’ 42-0 victory over Parrish Community.
RB Trayvon Jean (Golden Gate)
Jean rushed for 223 yards and 3 touchdowns on 22 attempts in Golden Gate’s 48-14 win over Mariner.
RB Latavious Welch (Eau Gallie)
Welch rushed for 267 yards and 2 touchdowns on 7 carries, and he also caught a pass for 31 yards and a score in Eau Gallie’s 62-22 win over Merritt Island.
RB Antonio Muniz (Gulf)
Muniz rushed for 227 yards and 2 touchdowns on 36 carries in Gulf’s 56-20 loss to Lake Wales.
WR Isaiah Riggins (Wiregrass Ranch)
Riggins had 8 receptions for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns, as well as a tackle, in the Bulls’ 45-27 win over Springstead.
WR Caden Harshbarger (Lake Mary)
Harshbarger had 16 receptions for 300 yards and 2 touchdowns, plus 1 carry for 3 yards in Lake Mary’s 42-38 win over Boone.
WR Samron Brinson (Wakulla)
Brinson had 6 receptions for 149 yards and 3 touchdowns, while also returning a punt for 20 yards, in Wakulla’s 46-14 win over Gadsden County.
LB Jonathan Ward Jr. (South Broward)
Ward had 15 tackles, including 7 TFL, in South Broward’s 20-13 loss to Belen Jesuit.
LB Eli Seed (Venice)
The final entry on this week’s list of Florida high school top performers is Seed, who had 8 tackles, 1 TFL, a sack, and a fumble recovery in Venice’s 53-6 win over Lakewood Ranch.
