The eyes of the college football recruiting world turned to the 2024 class last week as the nation’s top seniors officially put pen to paper on December 20. With some of the more intriguing decisions having come from the Florida high school ranks, we present six key takeaways from Early Signing Day. (Recruiting rankings according to 247Sports Composite.)
Jeremiah Smith
All eyes were on the state’s – and likely nation’s – top player as the five-star Ohio State commit was rumored to be a potential flip watch candidate, with in-state Miami a team to watch. However, the Chaminade-Madonna wide receiver stayed put with his commitment to the Buckeyes.
Jordan Seaton
The top offensive tackle both statewide and nationally, Seaton too was rumored to be a potential flip, possibly to Maryland. However, the five-star IMG Academy product opted to keep his commitment to Colorado.
LJ McCray
Another name on flip watch was McCray, who had programs such as Auburn and Florida State in the mix alongside Florida, to whom he was committed. The five-star Mainland defensive lineman would go on to sign with the Gators.
Adarius Hayes
Florida’s last big name on flip watch entering Early Signing Day was Hayes, who had been committed to Florida since January of 2023. The four-star Largo linebacker did indeed flip his commitment, going from Florida to fellow in-state program Miami.
Solomon Williams
The final two names on this list of Florida high school seniors were a pair of uncommitted prospects from Carrollwood Day. Williams, a four-star edge rusher, had numerous programs in the mix for his Early Signing Day commitment, including Alabama, Oregon, and Texas. He ultimately signed with Texas A&M.
Anthony Carrie
The second Florida high school senior from Carrollwood Day was Carrie, a four-star running back who went into Early Signing Day with interest from Texas A&M and Michigan State, among others. He ended up signing with Georgia Tech.
