Florida Female Athlete of the Year: All Saints Academy’s Sara Williams

All Saints Academy Lacrosse, Basketball Player Sara Williams Voted 2023 ITG Next Florida Female Athlete of the Year

A multi-sport athlete who put the finishing touches on a memorable high school career, All Saints Academy senior lacrosse/basketball player Sara Williams has been voted the 2022-23 ITG Next Florida Female Athlete of the Year.

Receiving 35.47% of the possible votes, Williams claimed the honor over a list of three additional finalists: Pace softball player Jayden Heavener, Alonso flag football player Mieke Rowe, and St. Johns Country Day basketball player Taliah Scott.

In lacrosse, Williams help lead the Saints to a 9-5 overall record, a Class 1A-District 6 title, and a regional quarterfinal appearance.

One of the state’s leaders in goals, Williams found the back of the net 140 times this season. She also compiled 23 assists to bring her overall point total to 163, and she had 134 ground balls, which was among the state’s leaders as well.

Williams especially stood out in April, for which she was voted the ITG Next Florida Female Athlete of the Month.

“Sara was the leading scorer, and she essentially put us on the scoreboard every game,” said head lacrosse coach Aricka Ward. “She was not just that, though; she was a leader. Her messages to the team about being prepared and accountable, and those little leadership qualities that she possessed are going to be a huge hole to fill off the field.

“She’s the first program player that we’ve had play at the NCAA level,” Ward added. “She’s going to leave a little bit of a legacy behind, but also kind of set the stage for our athletes going forward.”

On the hardwood, Williams was one of the Saints’ top playmakers, averaging 26.2 PPG, 2.7 RPG, and 2.3 SPG in nine games played.

Having also played softball and volleyball during her high school career, Williams certainly has left her mark on All Saints Academy athletics. Once again, congratulations to her as the ITG Next Florida 2022-23 Female Athlete of the Year.
