Trinity Christian Academy Volleyball Player Amaria King Named ITG Next Florida Female Athlete of the Month for July 2023

With no games having been played yet this school year, ITG Next Florida took the opportunity to put a twist on our “Athlete of the Month” series for July 2023 and spotlight an athlete who is “One to Watch” for a strong season this fall. Looking at small-school (Classes 1A-3A) volleyball players, our highlighted athlete for July is Amaria King of Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville.

King received 75% of the possible votes over three additional finalists: Carrollwood Day’s Lydia Chinchar, Boca Raton Christian’s Tekoa Barnes, and Trinity Prep’s Victoria Hill.

Trinity Christian was easily one of the top volleyball teams in Class 3A in 2022, finishing the season with a 25-4 overall record and a regional final appearance. One of the reasons for the Conquerors’ success was King, whose impactful sophomore campaign placed her among the team leaders in multiple statistical categories.

King compiled 407 kills with a 47.6 kill percentage during the 2022 season, which translated to an average of 5.0 kills per set. Other impressive numbers included 36 aces, 35 blocks, 205 digs, 12 assists, and 288 returns.

King has gained a lot of experience on the court since her seventh-grade year, and she enters her junior season with more than 1,300 kills in her high school career. With two more years left to go, the 2,000 kill mark could be within reach in the near future.

Keep an eye on King this fall, as a special season could be in the works for the Trinity Christian standout in the coming months.
