After receiving 66.55% of the possible votes over three additional finalists, Flanagan basketball player D’Naela Myers has been named the ITG Next Florida January 2024 Female Athlete of the Month. The other finalists were Montverde Academy’s Jaloni Cambridge, Dunnellon’s Tatiana Matthews, and The Villages Charter’s Zion McRae.
Receiving the honor as a result of her on-court play in December 2023, Myers helped lead the Lady Falcons to a 5-3 record during the month, which included a pair of one-possession victories on the road over Stoneman Douglas and Pembroke Pines Charter.
Myers averaged a double-double – 17 PPG and 17.4 RPG – in eight December games, along with 3.4 APG, 2.8 SPG, and 1.3 BPG. Of those eight games, she posted a double-double in all but one, as well as one 20/20 game with 21 points and 23 rebounds in the win over Pembroke Pines Charter.
The Flanagan basketball team is 12-7 at the time of this writing, and the impact of Myers, a sophomore forward, is a big reason why the Class 7A squad is thriving.
Across 18 games, Myers is ranks among the state’s top rebounders by averaging a double-double at 16.1 PPG and 18.2 RPG, while also holding season totals of 2.4 APG, 2.4 SPG, and 1 BPG. She has posted a double-double in all but two games so far, and she has three 20/20 games and six 20+ rebound games, headlined by a season-high 29 twice in wins over McArthur and Cooper City.
Congratulations on a phenomenal month to Flanagan’s D’Naela Myers, the ITG Next Florida January 2024 Female Athlete of the Month.
