Female Kicker Makes Debut in High School Game

Female kicker Carlee Roland, a freshman at LaGrange High School, is the only girl on the Grangers’ team, but fits in with ease. She refers to her teammates as her “brothers,” and some even call her a celebrity. Roland has been playing football since middle school and was one of three female football players on the middle school team. This season Roland made her varsity debut in the fourth quarter of LaGrange’s 47-7 win against Jordan High School.

“I guess people just think (me kicking) is different,” Roland said in an interview. “That’s the major question people ask: ‘Oh wait, you play football?’”
