Eau Gallie Football 2022 Team Preview

We tell you everything you need to know about the 2022 Eau Gallie football team in this preview. We take a look at roster changes and what fans can expect from the team this season.

2021 Stats

  • Overall Record: 3-7
  • Points Scored: 247
  • Points Allowed: 273

Key Losses

Arguably Eau Gallie’s most notable losses are on the defensive side of the ball. Gone are Marcel Poitier and Isaac Delaughter, both of whom were among the Commodores’ top tacklers a year ago. Timaule Hayes is another key loss along the defensive front and Jamez Chambers was another valuable contributor who has moved on.

On offense, the biggest loss comes from running back TJ Johnson. The Commodores’ leading rusher a year ago, Johnson received a majority of the reps at running back while also making an impact as a receiver, where both he and Isiah Rivers-Rodriguez will be missed.

Who’s Back

The biggest name returning for Eau Gallie in 2022 is two-way standout Robert Stafford, who ranked among the Commodores’ leaders in receiving a year ago, and also made an impact in the secondary. Joining Stafford at receiver are DL Hardison and Baker Alvarez, while quarterback Mari Crooms and the running back duo of Delvonte Williams and Tay Welch also return.

Defensively, Eau Gallie returns some of their top tacklers, a group headlined by the duo of Dillion Cooper and Curlie Spencer. Elsewhere on defense, Jude Tinor and Brandon Moree could play key roles in 2022, while Timajay Hayes and Samaion Horne are also names to know.

What to Expect

In what could be a wide-open Class 3S-Region 3, Eau Gallie is an intriguing team to watch. The Commodores struggled at times and missed the playoffs in 2021, but now, led by one of the top two-way players in the state, Robert Stafford, they could be a surprise team in 2022.

Prediction

Eau Gallie will win more games in 2022 than it did a year ago, and put it itself in playoff contention.
