Durham, Rogers Headline Top Performers in Week 2 of 2024 Florida High School Football Season

With two weeks of the 2024 Florida high school football season now behind us, let’s take a look back at this past weekend’s action and list some of the state’s top performers from what was an entertaining Week 2 slate. 

Jordan Durham, Quarterback – Zarephath Academy Eagles

After throwing for more than 400 yards in a Week 1 victory, Jordan Durham took an even bigger step forward in Zarephath Academy’s 48-30 win over South Fork last Thursday. The senior completed 25-of-34 passes for 523 yards and four touchdowns in the win, while also rushing for 12 yards and two more scores on a pair of attempts. 

Lazaro Rogers, Running Back – East Lee County Jaguars

Lazaro Rogers rushed for 246 yards and six touchdowns on 19 attempts in East Lee County’s 43-0 win over Gateway. 

Bjorn Jurgensen, Quarterback – Bishop Moore Hornets

Bjorn Jurgensen had a strong performance in Bishop Moore’s 42-21 victory over Tottenville (New York), as the senior completed 18-of-24 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns. The three-star Virginia commit also rushed for 73 yards and three touchdowns on six attempts. 

George Grant, Quarterback – Maclay Marauders

George Grant completed 14-of-15 passes for 322 yards and four touchdowns in Maclay’s 42-17 win over Brookwood (Thomasville, Georgia). The senior also rushed for 55 yards and a score on six attempts.

Tymir Gaines, Running Back – Mount Dora Hurricanes

Tymir Gaines rushed for a season-high 252 yards and four touchdowns on 18 attempts in Mount Dora’s 45-14 win over East Ridge. The junior also had one reception for 58 yards and yet another touchdown. 

Terrell Brant, Athlete – Zarephath Academy Eagles

Despite not finding the end zone, Terrell Brant had eight receptions for 279 yards in the Eagles’ 48-30 victory over South Fork. Brant also returned two kickoffs for 26 yards. 

BB Potter, Athlete – Maclay Marauders

BB Potter had one of the state’s top defensive performances in Week 2 as the Maclay senior amassed 18 tackles, five tackles for loss, and 2 ½ sacks. He also rushed for five yards on one attempt. 

Tommy Barcinas Jr., Athlete – Palmer Trinity Falcons

Tommy Barcinas Jr. compiled 17 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one forced fumble in Palmer Trinity’s 22-7 loss against Coral Shores. The junior also had one reception offensively for 40 yards. 

Tyson Williams, Linebacker – South Lake Eagles

Tyson Williams had 16 tackles and five tackles for loss in South Lake’s 17-12 win over Tavares. 

Brogan Woeber, Kicker – Jupiter Warriors

Brogan Woeber was a perfect 5-for-5 on extra point attempts and made a field goal from 45 yards out in Jupiter’s 38-6 win over Park Vista.
